What is passing for your nursing program?

Published

My school upped the required passing grade from a c+ to a b- which is a min of a 80 for nursing classes. No C=nurse here. Anyone else's school require a higher C for passing?

Must make at least a 78% overall, at least a 78% average on exams, and a 100% on your dosage exam. No rounding at all. Also must pass 2 HESI tests per semester.

In my ADN program, passing is a 75%. And as stated in the nursing handbook, there is "absolutely no grade rounding", so a 74.99% would be failing.

76% with rounding

81% average on the exams, no rounding, pass or fail on skills check offs and clinicals. Each semester there is math test you have to pass with a 90% or better, at each level you get so many attempts, if you don't pass it you are out. Out of 64 that started last semester we lost about 7 students, and I am sure there will be more who will not pass this semester. Yes there are people who complain, especially since my cohort was the first to have the higher requirement for passing.

My BSN program requires 80% and a GPA maintained above a 3.0 at all times. An A is 94%+ so basically it's almost impossible to get an A. A B- is like 84%-80% and is 2.8 grade points so we need to stay on top of our game and get above a 85% to keep our GPA stable.

78% average on exams.

In my BSN program, we have to have a 77% or higher, as others have said, a final grade of 76.99% will constitute as a fail (no rounding) and you'll be required to retake the whole course. Math exams for the junior year are 90% or higher and senior year has to be a 95% or higher. Unlike some schools, if you don't pass the math they don't kick you out. You just aren't allowed to pass out meds during clinicals until you pass.

A 80 is considered passing but it's also still considered a B and not a C. Anything below a 80 you fail. We lost a lot of people who got 79.XX grades that had to repeat or failed out. It's brutal but it must be done.

At my school, Breckinridge, passing is 80. You might get rounded up if you have a high 79. However, if you are passing at an 80 it's a scary feeling. Not one I care to have. But I've been close.

77 and above is passing at my ADN program.

Specializes in Critical Care, Med-Surg, Psych, Geri, LTC, Tele,.

78 at my RN school. The other local community college and state university only require 75! Grumble!

My daughter's school in another state recently changed passing to be 80%- mid program! So many of them failed and can't start again for a whole year!

80% test average with no rounding, 90% dosage, Pass/Fail for labs and clinical for my BSN program.
