I loathe the word "obese". Even if I didn't know the English language, I'd want to stay away from this one instinctively (especially since it's written all over my medical record........). Frankly, I'd rather just be called 'fat'!

I'm not asking this to start a debate, but i'm just wondering why specifically you don't like the word 'obese' and would rather be called 'fat?' I've met pts. who prefer 'obese' to 'fat,' so that's why i'm asking :)

i was wondering the same.

obese, to me, sounds much more clinical.

fat sounds much more personal...

Everytime I read the word "chyme" I feel like gagging. It's the only medical-related word I've ever seen that gets to me.

I hate when I hear "failure to progress" in L&D. It makes it sound like the woman is doing something wrong and is failing.

I hate the term "obeys commands". I just find that rather demeaning. I always chart "follows instructions" instead. I also dislike the term "morbid obesity". It just sounds, well, awfully negative and gloomy.

When i heard "obeys commands" i think of my dogs' obediance training class.
