What do you do to make extra money?

Published

I've been a med surg nurse for a year and a half, and now i moved to hospice. Thinking about working a few hours extra a month but doing something other than hospice or med surg. Curious what other nurses are doing to make an extra buck in these hard times.

Thanks.....

I work a few nights a week a pizza place that my husband manages, Great tips!

I joined a home care agency seeing at least 8 patients a day on my off days (I work nights at a hospital). It's great to see patients at home and finally giving them ALL attention. It's a lot of coordination, though. And paperwork. But being out in the sunshine is good after breathing stale hospital air.

Flu shot clinics. Love the extra money this time of the year!!!

While I do not work for "extra", many of my per diem coworkers work an occasional per diem shift in addition to their regular job at other hospitals. The full time jobs provides benefits, and the per diem job generates money faster. Weekend days pay a set rate starting at $35/hr for days.

There is always a need for med-surg nurses out there.

I just sign up for extra shifts. Our hospital always has loads of overtime available. My wage is pretty decent for an LPN and the OT wage is pretty awesome at $33.90/hr. I usually do a few OT shifts every week.

I've got a network marketing business. I help others get healthy while making extra money! It's great because even when I'm not working with that business I still make money on stuff I've done in the past.
