Before you became a nurse, what were you doing/what was your job then? Just curious!

My first job was working with Dad, who was a television news photographer. Awesome job.
Bartender at a golf course.
Waitress at various places.
Horse trainer.
Print type setter.
Single mom (best job EVER!)
Cashier at a liquor store (funnest job and a great boss)
Guard at a juvenile detention center.
Paramedic in several different cities. (for about 12 years)
Home hospice aide.
Paramedic at Dallas County Jail (wild a$$ job!)
ER paramedic.
ER RN.
Some days, I wish I could just go back to my cush little job at the liquor store.

HI, I AM NOT A NURSE YET OR EVEN A NURSING STUDENT, STILL DOING PRE-REQS BUT I WILL BE A NURSE ONE DAY SOON HOPEFULLY
1. WORKED AS SOMEONE WHO WENT INTO LIQUOR STORES AND TRIED TO PURCHASE TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL, IF THE SOLD IT TO ME POLICE WOULD ARREST THEM OR GIVE THEM A BIG FAT TICKET ( I WAS ONLY 14)
2.WORKED AS A PEER EDUCATOR FOR D.A.R.E WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
3. WORKED AT OLD NAVY AS A CASHIER
4. WORKED AT TRADER JOES AS A STOCKER/ CASHIER
5. PHLEBOTOMIST/ MEDICAL ASSISTANT
6. DISPATCHER FOR A PRIVATE AMBULANCE COMPANY ( WHERE I AM CURRENTLY WORKING WHILE IN SCHOOL)

Hi wannabe - my son did the same thing . .. decoy at stores. He was part of DARE peer counseling and a group called The Chemical People, anti-drug and alcohol.
I wish you the best regarding becoming a nurse.

Went from Matriculation College straight into nursing.
Worked my aerobics business around my nursing schedule.

Being a News Photogropher was the most fun I've had as a human being. The sad truth was I couldn't afford to move to Oklahoma City when PBS offered me a job.

I've been working since I was 14, so here goes:
Attendant for Tidewater Tides Baseball team;
Donut Girl for a donut shop;
Erhler's Ice Cream clerk;
Shift supervisor, subway;
Volunteer Activities coordinator for LTC facility;
Cashier in retail for Sams, Things Remembered, a Music Store and a craft store;
Legal Secretary for several different firms;
Bankruptcy Paralegal;
Real Estate Paralegal (title searches and closings);

Not a nurse yet, still doing my prereqs and hoping for admission for Fall '08 or '09, but I've been working since 14 so here goes:

Retail
Front desk at a hair salon
Horseback riding trainer
Legal Secretary
Preschool teacher
Legal Assistant/Paralegal (current)
...and the last 6 I've done while in school full-time working on 2 college degrees. I'm so ready to be a NURSE:nurse: and be done with everything else!!!
