Thanks so much to all who have responded! It's interesting to see how different everyone does it. I bought some plastic drawers to put in the very back of my truck, and will have a large plastic bin for diapers and such. I also bought a scrapbooking bag to use as my nursing bag....everything fits really nice in it and it has lots of pockets/compartments. I got one of those lap desks also for charting in the car. I've been riding with other nurses all week and have had a blast so far. Hoping they'll let me go on my own soon!

Drive Time What do you do with all those hours in your car? Listen to your favorite tunes? Talk radio? Audiobooks? Educational materials? Preaching CDs? Talk on the phone? OR Just enjoy the silence?!?!?!? What does the inside of YOUR car/trunk look like, LOL?!? Is your mobile office tidy and organized, or is it a heaping mess? Any brave souls willing to share pictures? Do you ever take your patients small gifts(coke, candy bar, magazine) or mail them a card through snail mail? Do you sit and chat with them over coffee? It's so tempting to just pull through the nearest drive through....how do you fight the urge?

I guess it may very from state to state, or agency to agency, but I'm in Alabama and just got a job as a Hospice RN. I don't have any special certifications. I do have hospital experience, which is usually required and highly recommended, but I haven't been asked about certifications. There is a one you can get, and I will probably work toward it, but as far as I know it's not required.

Yeap...I'm a believer. I PASSED...as did my classmates...we all 3 got the "good" pop-up. Thank you, Jesus! :clpty:

I took 75 questions on the NCLEX-RN yesterday...got the "good" pop-up. Two other classmates also took it (75 quest and 150 quest) both also got the good pop-up...I'll let you know what our results are as soon as we know. Really hoping it will be tomorrow and not Monday since we tested on Thursday, LOL.

I just graduated from Faulkner....you will get a great education. Just be ready to work hard, remain positive, & always have a great attitude! Let me know if I can do anything to help. God Bless!

I'm not sure if the previous replies are from local people, but I just graduated from Faulkner and I have heard MANY times from managers and staff nurses that they prefer to hire Faulkner ADN grads over USA BSN students. I'm sure USA has a fine program....just wanted to share what I've heard in the local hospitals. Faulkner is a tough program, but you will come out with a wonderful education and marketable skills for sure. Good luck to you and God Bless!

I am a 32 yr old mother of four (ages 5-17) and am considering going back to school for nursing. I live in the Mobile area and was wondering what is the best way to get started. I am going to make some appts with the area colleges, but a friend said that some of the local hospitals will pay for your college if you sign with them upon graduation....do any of you know anything about these scholarship programs? Any other helpful advice is also appreciated.
