Just a Floor Nurse
This is so true!!!!! We are under appreciated, used, abused, overworked and it is quite sad. I love being a nurse but there are times when I ask myself "what did you get yourself into?" Today we had 5 call offs (2 nurses and 3 CNAs) for the 11-7 shift and the DON took it personally when I told her that I could not cover and then she gave a major guilt trip about how she can't find anyone etc. but she seems to forget last weekend when I worked a double shift on OT to help them out because 2 nurses quit. It is really funny how they forget the things that you do to help them out but then they throw you into the lion's den because you forgot something.

Collaboration....

Are you responsible to purchase your own supplies?
LOL!!!! Thank you!! I am glad to hear that I won't have to worry about that. :)

Are you responsible to purchase your own supplies?
Just wondering if you are responsible for purchasing your own medical supplies such as dressings, bedpans, chux, diapers etc for the hospice patients that you see on your shift? Tomorrow is my first day of Hospice orientation and I wanted to know what to expect and if I should make a run to the medical supply store if needed. Thanks for all of your help :loveya:

Are nurses blue or white collar workers?
It does not matter what color collar anyone wears because all of us work hard and make sacrifices to be where we are at today. We are educated and have careers so I personally do not put myself in a category. :thankya:

How many Prereqs will I need for my BSN?
Thank you so much. The list you gave me is pretty much a standard for most schools and if you opt to go the private school route, they told me that they have a few classes their school requires you to take. What I am trying to do is take all of the prereqs needed prior to starting my BSN so all I have to pay for is the actual nursing program. Thanks again for the advice.

Energy drink to use for nclex rn thingyyy...
My favorite energy drink is the Mountain Dew Amp or any type of Redbull. In nursing school my teacher would say that a Redbull and A snickers was the breakfast of champions, lol. Good luck with your studying.

How many Prereqs will I need for my BSN?
I am looking for advice on how many prereq classes it will take for my BSN. I do understand that every school is different but I am just looking to get a general idea so I can start taking these classes and be a step closer to becoming a an RN-BSN. Thanks!:yelclap:

Accountable Healthcare Staffing in Lake Mary Florida
My pay as a new grad is $20 an hour. It really depends on where you work, shift differentials, experience etc. I lucked out because I work LTC so they tend to pay a bit more than most places but it all depends where you get hired and what shifts you are available to work. As for this post for the staffing agency, this will be a second job for me. Good luck in your studies and I wish you the best.

Accountable Healthcare Staffing in Lake Mary Florida
KateRN1- I made it clear as day to this staffing agency that I was a new grad fresh out of school and they still offered me a position anyway. I plan on discussing this position in detail and find out what type of orientation, nurse support etc that I will receive before I even think of taking an assignment on my own. I am nervous and I am hoping that they can give me the tools and training that I need to succeed in this field.

Accountable Healthcare Staffing in Lake Mary Florida
Hey there! I just received a call back from this staffing company that I had applied to less than a week ago. I live in Orlando FL and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this staffing agency. They are looking to hire me as an LPN doing Home Health for Hospice patients. This is a great experience because I am a new grad getting a chance to work in the field that I am most interested in.:w00t: Any information will be appreciated. Thanks!!!
