  1. I did go back to clinicals the next day. The pt taped a note written in big writing stating that the pt would not be taking any more nursing students. My classmates didn't understand why she made me go home either, but they were glad to see me. She did follow up the next day by telling us that if we fell behind in our care to our pts she would send us home. I believe I was the example for that. The next day I had a pt that was far more agreeable to having a student. The pt's meds were passed timely and the care was timely performed. The pt from the next day was very happy to see me when I came into the room. I had heard of nurses eating their young, I just didn't expect it from a CI.
  2. The original pt I was assigned to wasn't in his room so the instructor assigned me another pt late in the morning. This put me behind and threw me off. I guess I felt overwhelmed by the fact that as soon as I changed the pt he would have liquid diarrhea again so I didn't get to the med passes. She said the family complained about me being flustered and then she said what didn't you do wrong when I asked for specifics. I should have done the med passes and I'm angry at myself because obviously I got behind and didn't manage things well. I'm guessing that's why she made me leave. I have clinicals with this instructor tomorrow and she told me if I decided to show to be prepared. I was hoping that she would give me specifics as to what I needed to do better, but she didn't.
  3. I was taking care of a patient who had liquid diarrhea. I was not able to get to my med pass because of this. The patient's family was complaining about everything. I was getting no feedback from my instructor until she decided to make me go home. When I asked her what I did wrong, she said, "What didn't you do wrong?" I still dont' understand why she made me leave. What do you all think I should do given the situation? All advice is very much appreciated. Thanks.
  4. I am a LPN student at Ivy Tech in Sellersburg. What were you wanting to know exactly? Unfortunately, I am not on much because of lack of time.
  5. Welcome Crazyframes! I have found that I am losing weight faster now because I feel I am accountable moreso than doing it without everyone here. Lost 1 pound this week. Down 15 pounds total so far. I will probably gain it back this weekend since I will be off of WW this weekend. A weekend without any of my 4 kids... yay! I may just bug the babysitter though. I've never been without my kids.
  6. Okay now I get to go buy all the neat supplies.... I got into the LPN program at Ivy Tech in Sellersburg. Didn't make the cut for the RN, but I figure I can apply to transition into the RN program when the time comes. Yay!! :clpty: I haven't checked my weight yet this week.... but I'll check tomorrow and see. I've had an icky week with doctor's appointments and getting ready to train my replacement person at work.
  7. Congrats on the 4 year wedding anniversary!! I will be throwing all rules out the window this upcoming weekend... my husband and I actually have a whole weekend without any kids and that is a miracle. So we will probably be eating out and just having a good time.
  8. Wishn, Hang in there! I'm praying for us all to get in.... although I don't know if I'm going to get in at this point. 2 As and 2 Bs for my prereqs, with an 85 on the TEAS test... I may not get in. I did apply for the LPN and the RN program though. I figure if I at least get into the LPN program, I can transition after my first year. I've lost 3 pounds this week at this week's weigh in.... so for Monday's count - 3 pounds, down a total of 14 lbs since we started, 26 more pounds to go until September goal, and 56 lbs to go until my actual total goal weight.
  9. My parents couldn't afford to send me to school. Look at it from their perspective, maybe your parents can't afford it or they never went to college so they don't see the value in it. I got loans to get through school the first time around, but because I have a bachelor's degree in another field, I now cannot get grants or loans of any kind. My parents don't see the value in me switching careers and they can't understand why I'm not using the degree I already have. In fact, they have gone so far as to tell me I have been disowned and they are not talking to me anymore. I have applied to nursing school. If I get in, I will have to work a full-time job on nights and weekends to make ends meet and I will have to get a job in the healthcare field to get tuition reimbursement. It is the only way I can do it. I cannot rely on anyone else but myself. I have 4 children and all the responsibilities that come with being a mom. I basically will not see my children for 2 years. Make up a plan to get where you want to be and take that plan 1 day at a time. If this is what you want to do with your life, then make it happen.
  10. I have worked with people like this also, just in a different field. Personally I would be doing a lot of documentation to CYA. However, I would also be looking for another job. This person has been there longer. The administrators have probably heard complaints in the past and probably don't really care. The place I left still has that 1 person working for them. She sabatoges others jobs and has gotten people fired. When I went to HR, they told me they already knew about her. It didn't make 1 iota of a difference. Be careful. I hope your situation turns out better than mine did.
  11. I would have gotten fired because I couldn't have sat there. I probably would have screamed out and grabbed the doctor... all of which may get me a jail sentence for battery. I do wish I hadn't read this threat though.
  12. Fuucan, That's a loaded question for me today. My husband and I got in this horrible fight yesterday (mother's day of all days)... it happens every year because he hates his mother so he takes it out on me. I'm getting very tired of it. On the upside. I lost 1 pound. 11 pounds down.... 29 more to go. Fuucan hang in there. It does get easier. I've been through a separation and divorce myself. :icon_hug:
  13. Hang in there Tracylvn! It can be very frustrating with all the stress, work, kids (if you have them), husband (if you have 1)... life in general. Just remember its like school is 1 class at a time and you get there. Well, 1 lb at a time and you will get there. :icon_hug:
  14. Piglet, I have a JD and I have been temping as a secretary because I couldn't find a job.... I am taking a 2-week CNA course in June in order to get into a hospital setting. A lot of the hospitals have their own websites with job postings on them. You might be able to find a job in transport, which requires no degree, but will get you into a hospital setting. If you've ever been a secretary then you may be able to get in as a unit secretary. I have looked here where I am but I need a job that is weekend only 12 hours a day (if I get into nursing school I will be going full-time during the week) and so far I haven't found a unit secretary position like that. Good Luck!! I can certainly understand your frustration. I hate being a secretary. WishiN, Radcliff is about 1 1/2 away from me... I think. I'm on the border of Southern Indiana. If your ever down this way, look me up. We have tons of southern hospitality around here.
  15. Congrats to all who got in!!! Yay!!! I'm so happy for you. I just got on the scale and lost 5 pounds this week! Looks like I wasn't following the points like I should have been before. I kept on gaining and losing the same 2 pounds, which was very frustrating. Total lost so far 10 lbs.
