What are the item(s) you need most for nursing school?

Nursing Students General Students

I have been going through all these posts to find what items are the best things to have for nursing school. The posts are all scattered so I thought I would start a post that will contain all the info for the new incoming students.

I would like to know what I should spend my money on when it comes to study guides, NCLEX review books, NET review books, best nursing shoes (without a logo), stethescope, misc nursing items you have to have, etc. Any new students/senior students/graduate nurses have any info they can share? What were the items you couldn't live without???

Thanks for your input!

I highly suggest many different colored highlighters to help highlighting feel less mundane. Seriously sometimes it helps to look at something other than yellow. :)

Has anyone received any acceptance letter yet????

I was accepted to NCC, UMDNJ, BHSON, . I chose BHSON. Good luck!

Many thanks to all who have contributed to this thread! This week at Staples, many of the items listed throughout this thread are $0.25 - $2! They include: mini stapler, 2 pocket folders, 4 pack Sharpie, 3 ring hole puncher, and mini notebooks.

I read in the earlier posts that a PDA was "crucial" to have reference guides at one's fingertips.

With the change in technology, is a PDA still important? obscelete? (however you spell it- lol)

Has anything replaced the PDA in terms of a quick reference guide during clinicals?

Just wondering.

My iphone helps a lot. I have my davis drug guide on my iphone. I also have the epocrates app and the micromedex app, too. I'm sure there are tons more apps out there, so it would be great to hear from others, as well.

The iTouch seems to be replacing the pda. I just decided to invest in one and an app called nurse central which has a on of references.

I think the itouch and/or an android phone are great to have because they have the apps that you can download to use for reference and more.

A good supply of beer/wine/booze is a must.:smokin:

as for the android, I just got one (the incredible 2) and don't know which apps are worth my time and money.

Anybody out there that has worked with several and can share the wisdom?
