What is the grossest thing that's happened to you???

I really want to know what is the grossest thing that has happened to you as a nurse. Has poo or vomit flung at you? I'm super curious. Thanks to all ^_^

A super obnoxious yuppie college boy that was super drunk wiggled his tongue between his fingers (in a V Shape) at me. He was super drunk and OH MY GOSH it was so gross. I almost threw up a little IN MY MOUTH! :barf02:

A couple of years ago we had a patient who was on continuous bladder irrigation and was throwing these massive clots, so I was helping the primary nurse irrigate the catheter manually. Well, she was a bit forceful and the plunger to the tumy (sp?) syringe came off and i was splattered with bloody urine, on my face. Fun times.

1) Guy vomited vodka and White Castles on me

2) Little kid vomited chocolate milk, pringles and gummi bears directly into the pocket of my scrub jacket. (Mom fed her this mess 2 hours post-op because the child saw all the adults in the room eating this mess and wanted some- kid you not)

A woman's water broke on me as I was sitting between her knees, about a foot from her vagina. Covered head to toe in amniotic fluid, including face and hair.

Funny thing was 2 years later, that woman came back to our unit to have her second, and I was her nurse then as well. The same exact thing ALMOST happened again, but I had wised up and held a towel over her perineum as she pushed.

Was putting an IV and couldn't get the cap off.. I had to use my teeth and ended up tasting the patients blood. I washed my mouth with soap. All her labs including hiv was negative. I never reported it. I know bad nurse. I was just too embarrassed.

The second most disgusting thing was a dad who exposed his penis to me as his baby mother was hemorrhaging. I went over to him to grab the baby from him only to see his penis was out and by the look on his face he definitely did this purpose. I wanted to Die!

I was irrigating a very infected, large wound and pushed the plunger of saline a lil too forcefully. The saline landed in the wound and splashed back in my face, eyes, mouth, everywhere.

I was new and that was the last time I ever did anything without a mask on my face...

The time (when I was still an aide) was helping a nurse use the EZ Stand with a patient and the Foley the nurse was maneuvering somehow came apart and squirted me in the face with urine. It missed my eye by about an inch and a half... ew!
