So, we were talking at study group about what we'll give ourselves for a graduation gift.
I am thinking (seriously) about taking a cruise on a small ship to Alaska in the summer of 2010...a 7 day cruise to see a part of the country I have always loved and wanted to get to. I have no idea how I'll pay for it, but I am really, really thinking about doing that.
And, I'll get a second horse when I have passed the NCLEX and have secured a job.
What's your graduation gift to yourself?

I plan on taking my mom on an awesome vacation...a much needed vacation..after all I may not have been able to do so well in school without her support! I graduate in May 09, and I'm already dreaming of a new car! (mine died during the first year of school, it was a 15 year old junker, and I can't wait to be a "first owner"! WOOHOO!
you're going to buy a $75,000 7-series BMW? Really?
No need to be rude. You don't know their situation. Maybe their SO has money to burn. People go to nursing school for many reasons beyond just finances.
As for myself, all this talk of buying a new car must have made its way to my current vehicle, as the engine went out on it last night. So now I'm either getting a car earlier than expected, or not going to get through school.
I thought about going skydiving after school, , and when I pass my NCLEX, I'm going to buy myself a motorcyle. Ninja250, cuz, that's all i can afford.
uscstu4lfe,
if you are referring to my post...yes, i am. not that i feel the need to explain my reasoning but i didn't say anything about how much i will be paying for it. thank you 'scorpiostudent' for your supporting point of view and not insulting my personal decision. however, i am single with no children and nursing will not be my first career. i have been blessed to be able to enjoy an emotionally and financially rewarding career and subsequently made the choice to choose another area that is equally rewarding. however, none of this would have been possible without the sacrifice of my working parents who were determined to give me all of the tools needed to prepare myself. my father passed unexpectedly from a heart attack at age 50. he was a "work-a-holic" who took pride in providing for his family. so, if i want to carry out a personal dream of his upon completing another degree, i think i am entitled to that. i am not materialistic but i do enjoy nice things. no, i do not have money to "burn". so, the purchase of this luxury vehicle will be as wisely executed as my last one. good luck in your program...wishing you well!

I plan on buying myself a Coach wallet and purse and taking my family and boyfriend on a vacation. Don't know where yet, I just want it to be warm, sunny and far far away from school....
