  1. hi there! I just got hired at a clinic myself, but my "shadow day" was the chance for me to see what I liked and potential dislikes about it. I personally loved it! LTC is awful. I cannot help anyone in LTC when management has too many rules! lol anyway, for me, the pay at the clinic is HIGHER, the hours are BETTER, and its a different kind of stress. so far i'm happy!!
  2. CONGRATS to everyone who passed!!! I got my letter last week...PASS:) I got to the mailbox and was already having a crummy day. Opened up to find a small white envelope from CNO. I starting crying...a lady walked by and asked if I was ok!! lol I ripped open the envelope and starting crying so hard! lol The lady again asked if I was ok....I looked at her and smiled, and said YES!!! I PASSED!!! I'm sure she thought I was nuts, lol. I got in the car and called everyone. I was the first from my class to get the result. Now...the HARD part....finding a job! lol
  3. I too am waiting rather impatiently...the waiting has literally made me physically ill!! I tried to keep the mindset "its just another exam"....but truth is, its not! Many of my friends/colleagues got results as early as week 4 (previous exams)..and although i'm hoping for that, I just keep reminding myself "any day now". Good luck!!
  4. i'm 30 and taking the Practical Nursing program part time. It is so much more flexible and I am doing so much better in the classes. I generally have more time for family/work. I honestly think that I am learning more doing it this way. Rather than 6 or 7 classes each semester, I take 3. Much more study friendly! IMO, part time takes longer, but is better if you dont want to give up your current career (for income). good luck!
  5. I am an RPN student in ontario, and I hope to bridge to RN. I only started RPN because RN is not offered part time. I can not do full time with a job and family. If you can, I would just go to RN. Get some info on the bridging programs though. It is offered at a few colleges, but is extremely competitive, and that will only get worse over the next few years! good luck!
  6. Congrats to you!!! I wont be a 4th semester student until Fall 09 (i'm a part time student so it takes me twice as long!) Good luck to you in your last semester!!!
  7. i've taken up exercise (when time permits! lol), bubble baths and sometimes I've been known to go see a movie alone! For me, if I dont take a break, I can get crazy!
  8. our grades get posted on Tuesday. i'll be getting 2 letter grades and 2 sat/unsat. I feel confident, but until those grades are posted, my stomach is fluttering! lol
  9. cards have started coming in and its so exciting! mine are going out tomorrow...so I apologize that they are late! i'm just getting over the flu so I havent done much! thank you to EVERYONE participating! it is so exciting to send and receive cards from all over!
  10. at my school a problem is students just not working hard enough! if you are taking 6 classes and they are hard classes that require a lot of studying, you just dont have time!
  11. is someone going with you? can they drive and you study? I would go and take my books...in fact I have! My family would be shocked if they saw me without my study notes with exams coming up! no reason why you cant do both!!
  12. we had to do group presentations a few weeks ago and our instructor posted the grades this morning. She gave me a "C". I was furious! So I went to class early tonight and asked her to show me her breakdown of the marks. Why did I get such a crappy mark! She showed me the rubric she used (the same that we were following when putting the presentation together) and I asked her how she could take off marks when the content presented was what she asked for! She said "I guess I didnt follow what you presented"....um...what?? lol I speak english (no possible misunderstandings there!) and we used 6 different sources (she asked for 3). My groupmates did not even want to fight....lol but I wont settle for a "C" without a fight! So, I continued to pressure her for more answers...how can we lose marks for "creative design of slides" when powerpoint only has so many? I mean come on lady!! We used text only and text with photos but we mixed it up so it was appealing! Ughhhh....I cant stand her. She is on a high horse and needs to be smacked! lol She finally gave in and boosted my grade (not sure about my groupmates since they did not fight). sigh. 1 week left!
  13. my last exam is on the 10th and we've already booked a cottage for that weekend! I am so excited to do nothing! lol no books...no classes....just me and my family doing whatever we want!
  14. Lab is now done too!! Woot! I get my weekends back now! 2 exams to go!
  15. I'm just laying down having a little rest now. Today was our last clinical shift (our next rotation is in the spring). Wow. What a semester! I'm glad that I will get my weekends back! lol I can sleep in, do some laundry and walk my dog! lol 1 class done, 3 to go!
