Please tell me what school and state.
how long it took you.
did you fail any pre-nursing classes.
My pre req gpa is 4.0, co-req is 4.0 but my overall gpa is 3.8 due to gym and art classess that I loved but did not put enough effort into. I am also a CNA and have been working part time as a PCA. I did some volunteering with therapy dogs at an ALF before and plan to volunteer at a hospital when I can. However I have not taken the TEAS (my school did not require it) and do not know another language.
omg after hearing all of your high gpa not i feel like will not even stand a chance into getting into nursing.
my bio grades are like this
anatomy took it 3x and got a C. personal reasons
physiology im on c+ and b- back and forth taking it now
microbiology i got a A taking it now
nutrition i dont find it to be important but c+ or b-. m
my gpa is probably gonna be a 3.05 compared to you guys who have a 3.5 or above. :uhoh21:
hopeful something is meant for me.
I have been at this off and on for years! I have had A&p 1, 3 times. First time I dropped out when I got preg and sick. 2nd time I got an a, but waited too long to go back to school so now i received an a the third time! I have 3.69 cum. gpa and 3.75 pre reqs. I also have been a cna for years, which helped on the interview! 84% on the Kaplan entrance exam- accepted the second time I applied at Colorado Mesa University for their BSN program this fall. YAY!
My GPA from my B.A. wasn't as good as I hoped it would be, mostly because I got pretty sick and dealt with some boughts of pneumonia when I first got into college, so I had a few C's the first couple semesters. But my grades improved each semester and I was able to graduate with a 3.3. I have a 4.0 in my Nursing prereqs with only one remaining (Microbiology) and scored in the 99th percentile on the TEAS. I took the TEAS when I thought I was going to go for an ADN program, but decided to switch gears and was accepted into an Accelerated BSN-MSN program at Thomas Jefferson University in PA for the Fall. With the prereqs, I've been able to get my cumulative GPA up to about a 3.5. According to Jefferson, my transfer GPA will be about a 3.7, because they only take your science prereqs and about 36 credits of electives. If you're able to retake your Anatomy class again and shoot for an A, that might be your best bet. Of course, you need to make sure that your school doesn't have a policy about the maximum number of retakes. Good luck to you!
Many schools use A&P as a predictor as to how well you'd do in nursing school. I've seen it mentioned a couple times here, even from people who are on the admissions committees for nursing schools.
I've also seen schools list requirements where they say that you need a 3.0 in your science pre-reqs. This generally includes A&P I&2, Microbiology and may also include nutrition (depends how they count it).
Unless a school only cares about your money, they won't accept you if they don't think you'll do well in the program. And I'm assuming your school does things like 2.7 is actually a B-? So if you calculate your GPA with getting a B- in physiology, your C in anatomy and your A in Micro, then that gives you a 2.9 GPA for those 3 classes.
The tough part is that you are competing with many other students who will show up with 4.0s. You'll need to make yourself stand out sometimes. Also, many schools will say that they include the GPA for all your grades of a completed class, some will say they will take the best, others say you can only repeat 2 times for it to count. So research your schools. See if you can get into volunteer work, look into getting a CNA. You might also want to look at LPN/LVN schools because they might be less competitive and will give you a way to get your foot in the door to your career.

Many, college credits behind me, and I'm not sure what my overall GPA ended up being. But the school I was accepted to only looked at prerequisite GPA, and I had a 4.0. 97% on the HESI.
No fails, but I did retake a couple classes I took my first time around and didn't really care about to raise my GPA.
It's an ADN program in the Houston, TX area.
