  1. Absolutely bring your Littman and Welch allyn to school! Your instructors will probably admire that you made an investment in your future by buying great supplies. Second, your immature fellow students will probably save up and buy the same supplies once they realize they can't hear anything with those cheap Walmart supplies! LOL I too have a Littman (monogrammed too) and will wear it proudly to school. Ignore those who are jealous. This isn't high school, but unfortunately some still act like it, but you will find others who are not like that. Just keep looking for those people and be friends with them. Good luck and carry your supplies proudly!
  2. My ADN program had over 200 applicants and 40 were accepted.
  3. Wow, your situation sounds quite similar to mine. No worries, you certainly won't be the "class granny" LOL There are lots of older people going to school now. Good luck and go for your dream!
  4. Same here, all-white head to toe! Yuck!
  5. I think you'll find miserable people in any field. Some people are just naturally miserable and complainers. Nothing can make them happy. Some just happen to have gone into the medical field. I say just choose to ignore their "miserable-ness" and focus on the people with the right attitudes!
  6. Yes, you are too old. You'll be 31 when you graduate? That's ridiculous! You'll only have like 40 years to work. Nope, give it up. Of course, I'll be 49 when I graduate in two years, but that's a different story! LOL You are absolutely NOT TOO OLD! Go for it!!!
  7. Congratulations! I, too, got a 4.0 this semester on pre-reqs. Starting nursing in the fall and don't expect to be able to maintain that GPA then. But it's nice while it lasts.
  8. I am currently volunteering at my local hospital while in school and they only "require" 3 hours per week. I volunteer every Friday afternoon 1-4 PM.
  9. GirlDotson, congratulations on your wonderful accomplishment! You should be very proud of yourself. Job well done!
  10. Congratulations, New Nurse!:w00t:
  11. Congratulations to you! Please do share more details as previously mentioned.
  12. I used the official ATI TEAS V Study Guide and studied for approximately two months before I took the test. Of course, I'm 47 so I had been out of school for a few years ;P so I had to refresh some basic chemistry and algebra knowledge too. For the last two weeks, I focused completely on the science portion since that was my weakest area. I ended up scoring in the 99th percentile. An acquaintance of mine didn't study at all, saying she heard you "can't study for this test" (approximately same age as me, I might add) and she scored in the mid-70s. Studying does pay off. Good luck to you both!!
