What field of nursing are you interested into going into?

I always wondered what fields of nursing most pre-nursing students were interested in. Most of the time, I hear ER or CRNA because they make the most money. Personally, I am more interested in the N.I.C.U and labor and delivery. What area of nursing are you interested in and why?

i want to be an er nurse but I didn't know pay rate depends on specialty

I'd like to work in a Level I Trauma ER, Labor and Delivery, OR, or Pediatrics. I intend to avoid Med/Surg like the plague. :lol2:

I am really passionate about pregnancy, birth and babies .... my dream is to go to L&D or NICU.

Man, Id kill to go to a NICU. :yeah:

Geriatrics and Psych are my main interests. I also would like working in a doctor's office/clinic, home health, and school nursing.

I would never work Med/Surg, ER, ICU, etc. So no hospitals for me :)

I'm open to just about anything!! I'm looking forward to clinicals to try different things out. I'm also open to public health, doctor's offices, school nursing, hospice-- not much I'm not considering at this point!

As challenging as geriatrics can be, it's one of the areas I'm most looking forward too... I love old people as much as I do kids! :)

My dream is to become a nurse-midwife. I've wanted to be a midwife since I was a 6 year old pretending my dolls could give birth!

I work as a anesthesia technician right now, so I would love to do OR or NICU.

I use to pretend with my dolls too, but I wasnt making them give birth.:coollook::lol2:

This is going to be my second career and I've been a volunteer EMT for 25 years. Some sort of emergency care like medivac or air ambulance would be cool. I've also been a cancer patient so oncology I would not rule out.

Well, I'm still pre-student, haven't even started school yet, but at this point I would really love to work L&D or Post-partum (or both if the hospital intertwines them...?) I really love babies and would love helping new moms. :)
