Just wanted to check in with my peers to see what management has in store for you for nurses week.:balloons: I'm sure they're going all out, right? They'd never come up with anything stupid, that insults your intelligence and good taste, correct??? I'm sure, whatever they do will be well worth all the hard work you all put in throughout the year!!!:biggringi

We get a dinner, cooked and served by our DON. He even sent all of us invitations, and is passing out gifts at the dinner. Nice of him, since there is no positive reinforcement in our facility, and basically everyone is treated the same, regardless of incompetence, attendance, etc.

Some of the managers walked around tonight handing out ice cream. You had a choice between nutty buddy, fudgicle, or ice cream sandwich.

We are having a breakfast served to us my DON and management. We have having some people come and set up at our facilty to give each of us a massage. They are having drawing for prizes and gift's thru out the week. My DON gave a cute pair of socks that says "I Love nursing" on them and a personalized note pad and a really sweet card. I'm a new nurse and this is my first "Nurse's week" - I'm really loving it :)

They are donating sweats to our clothing room (for the patients who don't have clothing to wear upon discharge) in our honor...
Last year they donated socks to the homeless.

Well, I think this is the best of all.......
In addition to all of us getting reamed a new butt hole becuz we all didn't complete a "mandatory" education on time (who has time when ratios are soooo bad?) admin put out large coffee mugs (leftovers from last year) w/ after dinner mints in them. And there were latex balloons tied to them. Could barely stand all of the excitement.
Oh yeah, well there was this dinner thing. But of course...being a noc worker, I couldn't go cuz it was right in the middle of my sleep time.
Isn't it lovely to be appreciated? Would rather the week go by w/out anything at all...no mention of how "special" nurses are what-so-ever. I am not interested in some lame attempt at "celebrating" the nurses.
Sorry for the negativity. Each year it gets worse and worse. I think that I will start taking vacation the week of "nurses week" so I don't get more and more _________.

Sorry but that is not for nurses week. That is strictly positive PR for the hospital.
