What is your dream unit?

If you had the chance to work in ANY specialty, anywhere you wanted, where would it be and why? Which do you day-dream about? The one unit and setting that really makes your heart pound in a good way. Where you whistle as you stroll into work.

Have you already found your dream job?

Let's hear it.

Mine would be pediatric cardiovascular icu. I just think that sounds so dang rad. Pedatrics, and everything critical care entails, is highly appealing to me.

I will definitely be lurking plenty now! I started day one as a school nurse today. The students haven't come back yet, but I'm already enjoying the change to school nursing a lot! (:

I'm drawn to several different directions.

NICU, pediatric surgery or pediatric oncology.

Also interested in trying day surgery and school nursing.

I got my dream unit as a new grad (L&D) but am not really into it any more.

My new job is mother baby which I think I'll enjoy and may be a good stepping stone to Peds, but not a dream unit.

I've been a NICU nurse for many years and I love it. Couldn't imagine working anywhere else. Love the babies.

I've taken a recent interest in peds oncology.

Not sure why, still exploring that.

I've been on the patient side of that. Can't imagine what it takes as a nurse to be the caregiver for both the critically ill child, and the parents.

When you figure out if/ why this is your calling... please let us know.

I will. I'm not going to actively pursue it until I figure out what sparked it. I want to make sure this fire inside me is real first.

A surgical trauma unit with adults only. I would love to do ICU or ED but know I can't emotionally handle Peds (or their parents for that matter). Otherwise, I'm in my dream job already as a Med-Surg/IMC float nurse at a level 1 trauma/teaching hospital with decent ratios and support for nursing staff.
