What Did You Get For Nurses Week?

Published

I have been MIA from allnurses for a long time so I decided to start a topic...I just received my "nurses week" gift from my management team at the hospital were I work. Last year we got a pen and this year we got one of those tall aluminum bottles that keeps your drinks cold/hot, with the hospital logo on it!! Yay! *sacrasm over* At least we got a useable gift.

Curious on what other facilities have done or currently doing for their staff for nurses week. Please share.

I was put in charge of the nurses gifts. We gave out a basket with a pen, a paper pad, a poem, a black EMT pouch/holster with 2 sizes of scissors, forceps, tweezers, pen light, box of See's chocolates and a water bottle. Also a thank you card with a personalized message from our DON.

My previous employers never acknowledged it, so it's nice to finally be with a company that recognizes us. Last year we got a beach towel with our company logo and NURSE written on it, so all the beachgoers know where I work and what I do there. This year we got a knock-off Yeti cooler with our company logo on it. Like I said, I'm just glad we at least got acknowledged. :)

I gave; posting memes on FB to cheer all the nurses up.

I received a hanging potted plant and a soup cup.

Last year we got a lunchbag with a cup that was full of candy and snacks. Year before we got a camping chair, year begore that...umbrella. A varied selection!

A "Happy Nurses Week" Facebook post.

Here in Surrey, England. We got one pen each and it is not even one from the trust we are working for but from RCN freebies. Lucky for some unit to share biscuits etc.

Nurses are really not appreciated. How sad is that?

Most of what we got was kinda laughable, an adult coloring book, a very strange jump rope that took some figuring out that it was a jump rope (had two handles with buttons on it and a clear tubing) and a first aid kit. The one thing we got that was very nice was a $25 gift certificate to a local winery/restaurant. I will be using that after my baby comes next month.

Did you use them at work until they overheated and shorted out?

:roflmao:

Who uses pens any more with computerized medical records? I am sure there are a few places that have written records but so few. Why not a meal break, provided by the facility, you know pizza or sandwiches? I have thrown away so many "gifts", pens, pill cases, coffee mugs, badge holders. Most of them were junk anyway.

I am a nurse educator at a university. We did not receive anything but were able to give our nursing students and faculty something worthwhile in the form of a nursing conference. It was an all day event, complete with guest speakers, breakout sessions and the opportunity to earn CEUs. The highlight was we put on a History of Nursing Through Fashion show. We had nursing figures such as Florence Nightingale, Clara Barton, Mary Eliza Mahoney and many more! They were played by faculty members and in full costume of the period. Each spoke in the first person and gave a little bio of their character. It was a great way for students to learn nursing history. We covered nursing fashion from the 1800's to the present day. Everyone loved it!

We also presented nurses who worked in non-traditional nursing roles so students would learn there are opportunities beyond acute care for nurses. Included were: a fire department nurse, a disaster nurse, a movie set nurse, a school nurse, a legal nurse consultant, a nurse research and nurse theorist. It was great for our nursing students.

We served lunch and even had a cake to celebrate Florence Nightingale's 197th birthday! We were fortunate to have the budget and support from our nursing honor society chapter to put on this event.

The opportunity to purchase a t-shirt if we wanted it lololol.

We must have worked at the same hospital. They did this last year. This year, I hear they did the same thing.
