For nurses who work 12 hour nights, 7p-7a, and have a weekend obligation, what is considered the weekend? I'm sure Sat 7p to Sun morning 7a is considered the weekend, but is Friday 7p to Sat 7a, or Sun 7p-Mon 7a the other weekend shift?
If you are required to work that particular weekend, what do your hours look like?
Thanks!

We do three day weekends so Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
But we usually have a three day weekend on our weekends off :)
Pay wise weekend is considered 11pm friday till 8 am monday.

I work Sat and Sun 7p-7a. We get extra pay for working the weekend, but that is paid on every hour from midnight Fri till midnight Sunday. So, on Sunday I get extra pay from 7p till midnight, then drop down to my base rate.

At my facility, the weekend starts on Friday at 0700. That's when you begin to get your weekend differential. You will receive it until Monday at 0700.

Depends on your facility, and there may be a difference between what you are required to work vs. what hours you get paid weekend shift.
My hospital has gone back and forth a few times from considering Fri/Sat nights to Sat/Sun nights back to Fri/Sat nights. Thankfully I am weekend plan and work pretty much all of those I can because I make extra for all hours worked 7p Friday until 7a Monday.
My facility even used to have a Monday shift requirement (2/month) because certain once/week things happened that day and nurses preferred not to work that day.

At the hospital where I work, the weekend for noc shift is Friday and Saturday. We actually took a vote a while back and this is what the noc shift staff wanted.
The people who work 8's do every other weekend. The ones who work 12's do every third weekend.
