I just wanted to make a thread dedicated to the companies. Which one do you use? How long have you used them? What do you like about them?

Specializes in CCU, SICU, CVSICU, Precepting & Teaching.

hubby and i traveled with ppr travel. we got a great apartment, and they arranged for our pet deposit to be paid in advance and paid back out of our first check. but once we arrived at our assignment, we found that of all the travelers there (many!) we were making the least money. some of the other travelers had two years of experience, compared to our 27 and 22 years! that may have been our fault for not negotiating better, but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth!

to put my money where my mouth is, here's a couple of links regarding world health alternatives.

industry insiders say that they'd be surprised if this company is in business much longer. these are just a few of the links i was able to find. if they file for bankruptcy, it will be their second time...

i'd hate for any travelling nurses to all of the sudden not get a paycheck!!!

Thanks for all the good input, everyone. Anyone know about Stat Nurses International? Also Nursefinders?

i have travelled with both ogp and amn and never again, i have tried to warn others about them as well. low pay, poor housing and support.

i have also travelled with ppr travel, ( my recruiter was stacey)bridge staffing( my recruiter was pam heinman) both companies very good to work with, the pay was great but not exceptional, both provided good back up and support and have a good range of assignments.

i am currently travelling with world health and find the pay is top is very good support.

i heard that bridge has been going through alot of recruiters... you know what is going on with them?

I know the next question is who is the evil empire. It is a group of travel agencies that are all owned by one conglomerate. Here is part of there annual report filed with the SEC:

We use a multi-brand recruiting strategy to enhance our ability to successfully attract healthcare professionals in the United States and internationally. Our separate recruitment brands are American Mobile Healthcare, Medical Express, NurseChoice In Demand, NursesRx, Preferred Healthcare Staffing, Thera Tech Staffing, MedTravelers, MTI Staffing, RN Demand, O'Grady-Peyton International, Merritt, Hawkins & Associates, and Staff Care, Inc.

Of course you do not know that you are working for one in the same company because they will not tell you this up front!

WOW, I knew that some were in cahoots but not the extent of it.

I had a bad experience with poor pay and housing from Preferred Healthcare and knew that Ameerican Mobile was affiliated..I will not use any in this group.

I am going on my first assignment to Banner Mesa, Mesa, AZ. I have talked with many companies - and decided to use Clinical One. The pay is good, the insurance sounds really good, and there was no pressure for a quick decision. I am very excited about my first assignment.:)

Hi I have been with a great agency for the past year and I would recommend them to anyone. He's why I chose them above all the other agencies.

1)One of the best rates on the market

2)Blue Cross Blue Shield Insur Vision, dental, medical

3)100% private housing

4)offer 48 or 36 hour guarantee

5)small agency and you dont get lost in the shuffle

6)Gives you choice in assignment

7)They respect your time and dont hassle or pressure you.

8)Accomodate my family. Let me elaborate: I travel with my husband and son and have very specific needs as far as places I will travel too. I prefer smaller town/facilities and they search until they find the perfect match for an assignment.

There are many more things I love about traveling with them. Good Luck with your decision and your travels!

I just signed up with RN Network and Medical staffing solutions so if any of you travelers out there want a referral bonus let me know andi'll see what i can do. especially let me know if you are one the people that posted such good things about them above, because you guys really helped me with my decisions. thanks

No idea Idaho ... I had not heard that, I just deal with the one and not much of late as I am working through WHT for now... I have stuck with them because the pay is better basically

I use 2 great companies right now, tried CCTC (with the Evil Empire) once and would never do it again. I currently travel with Health-Force and On Assignment. Both are wonderful companys with high wages, corporate housing, insurance, everything I want and need. My recruiters for both companys are straight forward and honest. They are the best. Another place to look into companys is the travel nurse and therapist site on google. it provides a wealth of information about travel companys and hospitals from the traveler's view.

Just do a google search.

I used Travel Max for my first assignment....everything was great, except for the people who work in the local office in Oakland. My recruiter was very helpful, including moving me when the place I was originally staying turned out to be 'not so great'. For my 2nd assignment, I decided to play the field and try another company, mostly because of the way the local office in Oakland treated me, but also just wanted to see what else was out there. BOY do I regret that decision. I went with Abetta Care, and it has been awful from the time I left home. I drove cross country from FL to CA, after signing the contract, and got a phone call as I was passing through NV saying that I would not be starting the next Monday as planned because I lacked a certification that was required for the job. This was just the beginning, and without going into details, it has been one thing after another, and I STILL have not started work. I've invested time and money into this assignment, and am hesitant to change companies now since I will lose money for the move, the certification, and my TIME; plus I am not excited about restarting the whole process of getting started with another company. Anyway, hope this helps any of you looking for a good company. By the way, the pay and benefits with both companies were great. OH, and I have no way to contact Abetta Care after hours, which I think is very important in a travel nursing capacity.

I'm with Medical Solutions...Good pay, free private housing, travel and licensure reimbursement...and great people, my recruiters been awesome!
