  1. I agree, you take the order, YOU write the order. Where I work (Kansas) I do not have a lot of interaction with LPNs. We have none in my area. However, if it is NOT in their scope of practicce, then the LPN should not be taking orders, etc. Stay within your scope of practice, RN and LPN, and you will not have a problem/
  2. WOW, I knew that some were in cahoots but not the extent of it. I had a bad experience with poor pay and housing from Preferred Healthcare and knew that Ameerican Mobile was affiliated..I will not use any in this group.

There are a lot of jobs in nearby Maryland. I was very well recieved there!! Baltimore is but a few miles away (went out in the bay for the 4th fireworks...it was awesome), and the sam for DC..just hop the train and in a few min you are there as well. :wink2:
  4. I am in total agreement, your sense of humor and self will be appreciated by the ER staff !! :chuckle
  5. Is anyone doing CVP monitoring for septic patients in the ED ?? There seems to be a great move for this, the outcome of such pts has been improved greatly. The wave of the future is upon us. How is it working for you ?? Is the staff hiding :chair: afraid of the new wave ?
  6. In our ED we are required to have BCLS and ACLS at the beginning of employment. We then need to acquire PALS or ENPC and TNCC within 6 months.
  7. I live the Kansas City and have worked or know nurses at many of the hospitals in the metro. St Lukes, Research, and Truman on the Mo side are good teaching facilities on the Kansas side KU med is where I am (and I am very happy there), another teaching facility and a level 1 trauma center. Shawnee Mission, Olathe Med Ctr are very good also. There is a lot of agency work available.... my recommendation....hmmmm, stay away from any HCA facility. :chair: good luck
  8. I think all of the teaching hospitals are great, St Lukes on the Plaza, Truman, Kansas University (KU-MED), Research....... then you have the burbs.....Overland Park Regional, St. Lukes South, Menorah, Shawnee Mission Med Ctr, there are many to choose from, and NO lack of agencies to work for. Agencies are paying 35-40 an hr for critical care and there is plenty of work in the metro. All of the Agencies have 401s, full insurance and benefits !!! The idea that you must be employed FT by a hospital to have full benefits is outdated....... go where the money is.
  9. get a lawyer...... NOW You gave 1/2 of med ordered You altered the chart......to reflect a larger dose given......weeks later yup, get a lawyer...... NOW
  10. I was concerned about doing ACLS online, but our hospital is now requiring everyone to re-cert online. Having been through the experience....... it is easy, and there are practice components built into the program. I recommend it !!! Kireri :)
