  2. I found the exam to be very difficult . I applied for the er and it asked about ekg rhythms and treatments, acls meds, and what would you do first questions. No study guide , I failed but they let me interview anyway
  3. Born and raised in the Bronx...
  4. Hey Kace22. Do you happen to know what are the hours of the night shift? 730-8am, 700-730pm? He recruiter told the nurses work 12 shifts, does that break down to 3 shifts per week? How are the benefits? Are the nurses overwhelmed? I'm 30 and the fun person, is the staff cool and nice?. Thanks for responding...
  5. Hello everyone. I have been an ER nurse for the past 7 years and soon I will be interviewing for an ER position at St Barnabas in the Bronx. Do any of you work there? If so, can you shed some light re: the ER, staff, patient population, management, and overall environment? How is the pharm exam? Starting salary for experienced RNs? Benefits? Thanks in advance....
  6. Thanks Trauma I have a PDA but I want some reference books. A book with conversions, anatomy, electrolytes...yada yada
  7. Hey all. I'm a new NP working in college health and was wondering if there are any "must have" pocket reference guides? I just purchased the EMRA antibiotic guide. thanks
  8. Reese, I just graduated from Stony Brook's FNP online program (which they have since gotten rid of). PM me if you have any specific questions...
  9. Hey... All of the exams are online but timed. I had no problem juggling clinicals. There was one clinical course each semester. Since I work three 12 hour shifts per week, I was able to go to clinical 2x per week. Most of my clinical preceptors allowed me to jump right in, except for women's health. I can totally understand why my preceptor didn't allow me to start doing paps until I saw a bunch and become more comfotable. The hardest part was finding our own preceptors. That process was soooo tedious and frustrating. Good luck with everything!!!!!!!
  10. Well I just graduated from SB's FNP program. Im here if you ahve ay questions...
  11. Thanks guys, your suggetions really helped
  12. Hello everyone. I will be graduating from an FNP program this May and I'm working on my resume for future NP jobs. I have a few questions re: this task , as I haven't written a resume on over 6 years: Do you guys find that most NP jobs ask for a CVs or resumes? If a job asks for a CV, do you submit a "resume-styled cv"? Is it ok for the resume to be more than 1 page long? My tentative resume includes: personal info, education, job experience (as an RN), clinical preceptor references. Do i need to inlude my clinical rotations? If so, what info do I provide? How detailed should your rn job descriptions be? Do you include your gpa? I performed a google search for NP resume templates and I am still lost. Please help. Thanks
  13. Thanks NYforlove, yesterday I found 2 potential preceptors at the last minute and will be starting clinical next week. The Stony Brook DSL program is a good one, having to find your own clinical site/preceptor is what is most stressful about the program. I suggest contacting NPs way before clinicals even begin to help alleviate some of the stress...
  14. Its funny you ask me this today...2 weeks into the semester and Ive yet to find a clinical site. So I am one of those ppl in danger of not graduating. There are plenty of sites to go to in LI area but I live in the Bronx and can't drive
  15. The whole program is distance learning, except for a 1 week orientation in the beginning.
