I just wanted to make a thread dedicated to the companies. Which one do you use? How long have you used them? What do you like about them?

"we use a multi-brand recruiting strategy to enhance our ability to successfully attract healthcare professionals in the united states and internationally. our separate recruitment brands are american mobile healthcare, medical express, nursechoice in demand, nursesrx, preferred healthcare staffing, thera tech staffing, medtravelers, mti staffing, rn demand, o’grady-peyton international, merritt, hawkins & associates, and staff care, inc.
of course you do not know that you are working for one in the same company because they will not tell you this up front!"
all i can say is that none of the companies/recruiters will voluntarily say who they are associated with. i'm with nurse choice and very happy with them. however, they seem to share a different philosophy than their sister agencies. i will not travel with any of the other affiliates of amh because of 1. past experiences, 2. on line history with other travellers, 3. pay rates. several of the nurses i have worked with have been 'green-card' nurses thru o'grady and the way the company abuses them in their contract is abominal. pay rates about 65% of what regular nurses make, 2 year contracts and no support. granted, they have the cost of getting the cards, licenses etc, but it's still lousy.
nc has done everything they said they would. pay has been right every time (even the first check), reimbursement for travel has been prompt (one week) and the housing is as promised (hotel style). depends on what you want. just remember. if it's not in the contract, it doesn't exist!!

I'm with Medical Solutions...they've been great. It's a smaller company, so they really go out of their way to do things for the people that work for them. They've even sent me a couple of gifts. Once, to welcome me to the company, and then again because they got good feedback about me from the hospital. The only bad thing I can say is that they don't always have as much of a selection of assignments as some of the larger companies, but I'd still recommend them.

is there such a job as a "traveling public health nurse"? i'm going to a career fair friday, and my resume has the title for a "public health nurse". well, after a year's experience, i wanted to start traveling. will i have to pick another field (pacu) for traveling? or can i have a "travel public health nursing" career? from what i read on here, public health nurses keep their same jobs for long periods of time. therefore, do they even have travel positions for 2 months somewhere as a public health nurse. or.. do i have to put pacu as a title i am looking for on my resume for the career fair this friday so that i get a year's experience in that field, in order that i may start traveling? i can't get a hold of anyone that could answer this question for me! does anyone know? i don't even know how to start my own thread!

I work with INA (Intigrated Nursing Alliance). I have taken my first assignment with them and just extended for another 13 weeks. I have never really had any problems. I have a good recruiter...just sometimes I think he likes telling you what he thinks you want to hear. But no real problems or issues with paychecks or anything like that. The pay is decent, but the housing could be better. Have had one problem and that is getting my check stubs. I think I finally got that resolved.
Thanks

has anyone gone thru aureus? people at work tell me they are good....
I worked for Aureus Medical Group for about a year and really enjoyed working with them. I have since moved to another company called Professional Nursing Service and it has been one headache after another. There is no organization in this company and I have had problems with paychecks being payed on time, housing issues that aren't being addressed, misinformation about contract lengths and dates, many upfront promises were not carried through with. I wish I hadn't left Aureus, but only a select few companies have contracts in Utah and that's where I wanted to go.
I would highly recommend Aureus Medical Group. They are a midsized company with decent pay and they have some great benefits. Their staff bent over backwords to help me get where I wanted to be and were open to negotiation on pay rates. They helped me avoid some hospitals they thought wouldn't be a positive experience as a new traveler and I really felt safe working for them. I had some really amazing housing with Aureus as well. Some of the benefits included per diem pay, outstanding housing, travel/license/CE reimbursement, they even have a program where you rack up points for every hour worked and can use them to shop online for name brand items. After three contracts I had an ipod nano for my wife and one for me, some very nice mummy bags for the two of us and a nice tent for camping on top of some cash in the bank. I have researched nearly two dozen companies and haven't found anything that compares.
Here is a website I found that interviewed an obscene amount of travel companies and put there top ten up. It's interesting because they compare many different aspects and you can compare bene's to bene's.

hope that helps some.

Hi I have been with a great agency for the past year and I would recommend them to anyone. He's why I chose them above all the other agencies.1)One of the best rates on the market2)Blue Cross Blue Shield Insur Vision,dental,medical3)100% private housing4)offer 48 or 36 hour guarantee5)small agency and you dont get lost in the shuffle6)Gives you choice in assignment7)They respect your time and dont hassle or pressure you. 8)Accomodate my family. Let me elaborate: I travel with my husband and son and have very specific needs as far as places I will travel too. I prefer smaller town/facilities and they search until they find the perfect match for an assignment. There are many more things I love about traveling with them. Good Luck with your decision and your travels!
