What classes did you take with A&P?

Published

Hey there!

I sadly don't know any nursing students in real life, so I figured this would be a good place to ask what classes you took / are taking alongside A&P 1?

My professor has sworn up and down A&P is just not doable while working full time, especially with other classes, but what choice do students have? I found it absolutely ridiculous and so discouraging.

So in spite of everything she said, I am enrolled in A&P 1, English 1 and an online Intro to Psychology for next semester (10 credits). This is the most I could squeeze into a comfortable schedule that worked well with my work schedule.

Taking on too much? Too little? What was your experience like?

Next semester I'll be taking A&P I, Micro, intro to phil and a history. It's totally do-able, and I suspect that the two sciences together will be supplemental. I took a bio and a chem with labs last semester along with 2 other courses and they complemented each other. I work part time. Nothing is ever too hard...it's entirely dependent upon how much time you spend on it and how much you want it.

For your professor to suggest not working or taking other classes with A&P is bit much. I took A&P 1 with Eng and A&P 2 with Sociology. And this was done working 40+ hours. Regardless of your case load or job, some classes require more than others. But I think what you have chosen seem good with a job.

I'm signed up to take biology and psychology with A&P

Your professor is wrong. Not everyone can handle it, but I sure did. I have take an A&P class every semester for the last 3 semesters (A&P 1&2 as well as Advanced Physiology). I always took at least 3 other classes at the same time. This is on top of working a full time job and a part time job. I am currently pregant and in my hardest semester yet with 14 credit hours. I am EXHAUSTED most days and I am full on pregnant lady crazy, but I am survivng it and am doing well in the class. Granted not everyone can do that of course, but if you want it bad enough you will find a way.

3 classes are 10 credits? Woah that's awesome lol.

I took A&P1 with English102, Psychology211, and Sociology101! :)

Got all A's and B's... your professor needs to be a bit more confident in y'all's abilities I think.

I did those 4 classes with a 8mo baby while living on my own for the first time (so no help) and didn't feel like I was struggling!

You'll be okay!

With A and P 1, I took 3 other classes (music, sociology and psychology). For A and P 2, I took a CNA course and my first nursing class (theory with no clinical, and it was required for all about to transfer into the actual program).

Good luck!

I am worried about this as well. I am registered to take A&P 1, intro to Chem lab and lecture and stats next semester and I am kind of freaking out thinking I am overloading myself. I have two kids, 4 and 6 months. I only have 7 classes left before graduating ether in summer or fall- but if I go part time it will be 2 whole years before finishing my prereqs.

I tried to take online classes or "softer," non-math or science courses with the A&P sequence. I took the psych prereqs for lifespan psych, social sciences (soc and anthro), communications and a required computer literacy course with the A&P series.

I took it with Nutrition, Bioethics, and Introduction to Nursing.

I think it would be challenging to balance it with working full time but not impossible either.

Good luck.

A&P 1- sociology, philosophy college algebra, life cycle

A&P 2- microbiology, statistics, another philosophy (it was an honors college requirement), comp 2

I worked three days a week and had a toddler. I took Anatomy and Microbiology together (with a filler Work experience course, to keep my scholarship). Next semester took Physiology and a General/Organic/Bio Chem combo course (again with the work experience class). I received A's in all courses.

Thank you all so much for your replies! I'm happy to read that the general consensus surrounding this is that it's very much possible. I went from completely discouraged to feeling confident about next semester.
