What classes did you take with A&P?

Published

Hey there!

I sadly don't know any nursing students in real life, so I figured this would be a good place to ask what classes you took / are taking alongside A&P 1?

My professor has sworn up and down A&P is just not doable while working full time, especially with other classes, but what choice do students have? I found it absolutely ridiculous and so discouraging.

So in spite of everything she said, I am enrolled in A&P 1, English 1 and an online Intro to Psychology for next semester (10 credits). This is the most I could squeeze into a comfortable schedule that worked well with my work schedule.

Taking on too much? Too little? What was your experience like?

You should be fine! I took A&P 1 with lab with lifespan psychology, sociology, and microbiology with lab all in one semester. I worked at least 35 hours/wk during that semester. None of the courses were online. I am now in the last 3 weeks of my RN program. Believe me - if you TRULY want it to work, it WILL happen.

This coming semester I'm taking chem (i never took it in high school and is a requirement for my program), English Comp, and Developmental Psych. A&P I decided to take over Summer semester. This works best for me because my job tends to be too busy in the summer for a full course load, but I will have plenty of time to devote to one class.

I took A&P1 during a summer quarter while completing my CNA course as well as my lifespan development psych course. It's very doable however I pretty much spent that entire summer couped in my room studying because that was a lot to take on. A&P1 was definitely just all memorization in my eyes, something im very good at.

With A&P2 I just took the other general classes I had to take at my university at the time.

I believe that the schedule of A&P1, English, and Intro to psych is a great schedule as there isn't too much but there's also more than enough. Psych was also a lot of memorization however if you find both that class and A&P1 interesting they should be a breeze.

I took A&P 1 (lecture and lab) during the summer semester along with college algebra and passed both with an A. I didn't really struggle with either of the classes, just had to make studying well a priority. This semester I am taking A&P 2 and microbiology. I was discouraged from taking these classes together but I am not having any problems with it.

I think your schedule is doable.

I took A&P 1 lecture and lab (hybrid-A), sociology (online-A), and life span psych (online-A) while working my regular 40 hour job plus my part time weekend job. I have two children (6 and 3). It certainly was not easy, but it was doable.

I'm a full time student so it's definitely a lot easier for me and major props to you, but quite honestly A&P isn't too hard. As long as you can memorize, studying doesn't seem too hard as long as you don't over complicate it. My first semester I took English 102, Pre-calc, History..., and Spanish 101. The only thing I'm struggling in is English 102 and it's because I abhor writing. I think the better question is what you're better at. If you feel you can take writing classes psychology and english should be easier, but if you've got a background in anatomy and find memorizing easier, case studies and papers might be harder to stay on top of.

I am taking A+P II and micro together as well, I think they actually complement eachother! There have been one or tests in both classes this semester that have had the same material as the other class depending on what section we are in.

Yeah, I agree that they complement each other. My most recent micro test covered host defenses which had already been covered in A&P 2 when we went over the lymphatic system several weeks ago. I can't see why taking these two classes together would be discouraged.

I think as long as you can handle your classes you take with A&P you can take whateve classes you can handle. I think I took A&P and micro bio together, but that was over the summer and the classes were only 8 week long. So it was intense, but manageable for me to just focus on those classes by themselves.

Don't apologize for seeking advice! That's what the forum is here for :)

I was out of school for about 12 or so years before starting college for the first time, yikes! This is my 4th semester. I am taking AP 1 lab and lecture with stats2 and my last history course, thank goodness! I would of prefered to take AP on it's own as I've found physiology challenging, but I was advised over and over it would be ok. I'd say no. For me personally at least. Next semester I am slated to take AP2 lab and lecture with humanities 1 and another math. ugh... I am hoping they release the schedule for summer and I can see about taking physiology alone then. We shall see! Good luck in whatever path you choose!

Classes I took with A&P -- Intro chemistry, genetics, neuropsych.

Classes I recommend taking with A&P -- fingerpainting, history of the Kardashians, and interpreting cloud figures 101. Seriously, my teacher was insanely demanding for a small time college. Tests were all blank sheets of paper, so based on total recall.

What you're taking sounds fine. Whatever you do, do.not.get.behind.

I took A&P I by itself in a 5 weeks summer semester. Then A&P II during the regular semester along with intro to ethics, Spanish, human growth and development. For me it was completely doable. My A&P teacher (took the same one for both) wasn't necessarily easy nor hard. I got an A in the class.
