I doubt ill get into the nursing program
At my school you have to have a B in Chem, A&P, and A&P 2 to even be eligible to petition for core classes. I would suggest you speak with your advisor. They are going to be the one to give you the best advice pertinent to your program. Good Luck!

Career advice
You are speaking in present tense when you explain the position. Sounds like in your heart you have already made your decision :). Good luck at your new job!!

What classes did you take with A&P?
This coming semester I'm taking chem (i never took it in high school and is a requirement for my program), English Comp, and Developmental Psych. A&P I decided to take over Summer semester. This works best for me because my job tends to be too busy in the summer for a full course load, but I will have plenty of time to devote to one class.

Finding work while working on prereqs?
I am fortunate, my partner has a Mon-Fri day job. I typically work 11pm-7am. My job is pretty flexible on the days worked, as long as I work most weekends. As of right now, hospice is where I want to work, so I feel very fortunate I have the opportunity to volunteer. All I did was find out on their website who the volunteer cordinator was and gave her a call. She said they are always looking for volunteers, I would think yours would be too!

Finding work while working on prereqs?
I'm also a pre-nursing student, same age. I currently work night audit at a hotel. No this doesn't give me any hospital or patient experience, but I have most of my shift where I am free to study and do homework (while getting paid!). To balance out not gaining any hospital experience (even though CNA work will not count as nursing experience), I have my application in and will hopefully start volunteering with hospice patients soon. I know that won't be looked at as medical knowledge, since it isnt, but volunteering is always a plus on a resume.

Don't know what to do..
Something you could do to help your son, leave a little sign you were there. Something as simple as when you kiss him goodnight, take a marker and draw a little heart on his hand. Something like that shouldn't wake him up, but he will see when he wakes up that you were there. Being a single mom is hard. I've been there and feel your pain. Just know you are going to work everyday to make your guys' lives better. That is something to be proud of, whether or not you need assistance. It seems to me you may need to keep your eyes open for a position that fits your family life better. Good luck to you, it has to get better!

Is it too Early to study for the Pax?
Hello! I'm a pre-nursing student, getting ready to start my pre-reqs. I know my scores on the Pax will determine whether or not I get accepted into my schools nursing program. I have been out of school for about 15 years now. I am not too worried about my pre-req classes, I always did well in school. (Not to say I am not going to take them seriously!) Looking into, and reading peoples experiences, has got me wondering though, is it too early to prepare? I know the test is super important, and a lot of people seem to have struggled with it. I was thinking about ordering some study guides and practice tests. On one hand, I figure the more time I have to practice, the more prepared and comortable I will be, but I do wonder if I am going to much too soon. As for pre-reqs, I have 3 semesters worth (one of them being Summer semester), only because I can't take my sciences concurrently (Chemistry, A&P and Advanced A&P). I hope to be accepted into Core Nursing in Spring of 2017, which means I have to petition Fall of '16, with my Pax passed. I would (in a perfect world) take the Pax in April, which would give me the 4 months in between if I didn't pass the first time. Any info, opinions, study advice is welcome! Thanks in advance!
