I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

Denver is offering to pay for migrants' onward bus fare to destinations of their choice, a decision decried by other cities also struggling with the migrant crisis."
What's your solution.? It's a sad situation but you, obviously, have it all figured out. It's not a conversation when you complain but add nothing. Talk to someone who can change the amnesty laws. The Republicans have already shown their disinterest in moving forward. Do the Democrats have to do EVERYTHING?

LOL...no, Democrats created this mess by putting out the welcome mat and should be nowhere near those wanting to find the solution.
You illustrate that by bringing up amnesty laws.
There are some easy first steps. It's not rocket science. Get rid of the local laws that prohibit law enforcement from cooperating with ICE. Arrest and detain all that enter illegally. And, put resources into securing the border to make it harder to enter illegally.
Tell me, what of that doesn't make sense?
This is from over a year ago, and things are even worse now.

It's so weird that republicans so obviously rejected bipartisan immigration to benefit the political campaign of one man and still bring the topic up regularly to remind everyone. Democrats will be able to campaign on this unnecessary turmoil for months now. It will be easy to say that republicans are unable to govern, unable to find evidence for their many inflammatory claims, and unable to trust women with bodily autonomy. They sure do complain a lot though.

We don't need bipartisan immigration reform. Let's start with enforcing the laws we have.
Beerman said:We don't need bipartisan immigration reform. Let's start with enforcing the laws we have.
Gee, that is not really true. We must certainly do need comprehensive immigration reform. We need more funding for enforcement of existing immigration laws and for detention.
Yeah, that "enforce the existing law" mantra was the basis for the Mayorkas impeachment. Those articles of impeachment will be walked to the Senate by the SOTH on the 10th. It will be interesting to watch that spectacle of right wing theater unfold.
I get why this kind of untruth about not needing legislation resonates, though. It's repeated over and over and that begins to influence how people think about complex issues. No one is immune from the immigration messaging, we all are exposed. The narrative affects all of us. Some of us simply dilute that alarmist story telling with a broader view of the topic and the facts surrounding immigration. Propaganda works.

More chaos and conflict from the right wing. I'm not certain that this conservative caucus is capable of governing.
QuoteGreene has been up in arms that Johnson recently endorsed a massive spending deal with President Biden to fund the government through September — a package that excluded the tougher border security measures many conservatives had demanded.
QuoteHeading into another explosive debate, this one over military funding for Ukraine, Greene is amplifying both her opposition to that aid package and the pressure on Johnson to keep it off the floor. Unmentioned but hanging over that imminent debate is Greene's threat to remove Johnson from power if he contravenes her stipulations.
"If Speaker Johnson gives another $60 billion to the defense of Ukraine's border after he FULLY FUNDED Biden's deadly open border, the cruel joke would be on the American people,” Greene wrote Monday on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
"And it won't be April Fools.”
In a second message posted hours later, Greene highlighted the arrests of immigrants in the country illegally who are accused of violent crimes in Boston, suggesting the Speaker hasn't fought hard enough against Biden's border policies.
"Speaker Johnson completely surrendered all power we had in the House to stop horrendous crimes like child rape by illegals when he fully funded Biden's deadly open border without a fight,” Greene wrote.
Do you think thst MTG in understands how governance in divided government works? It doesn't seem like she understands how any of this actually works.

Not only does she not understand, she doesn't demonstrate any curiosity or ability to learn anything except how to cash her check and enjoy her freebies.

You do realize that the matter of WHO gets to arrest and deport people is going to SCOTUS? So far, no court has agreed that it is constitutional for any local officials. This is a reason for governors to be familiar with federal law. Since I'm no constitutional lawyer, I have no idea what the decision will be but I suspect that it might require a constitutional amendment to change thus particular right that is designated only to the feds. I think we have a serious problem but I refuse to become a tool of Fox in making this numero uno issue. They are just using Hitler's playbook to keep pounding the issue over, over and over so that people will actually start to agree with them. The Federal Circuit Court has not been friendly to Texas when it comes to immigration. It doesn't seem likely that any court which brags that it's originality is going to bend a constitutional legal decision.

So you think this situation is only recent when Biden "put out the welcome mat?"Hahahaha.

I'm not talking about locals arresting and deporting. Our Border Patrol can arrest and detain. Right now, under the Biden DHS, they are mostly arresting, processing, and setting free into the interior of the US.
ICE can arrest, detain, and deport. As mentioned in the article, "sanctuary cities" have passed local laws prohibiting their local law enforcement from turning over criminals to ICE.
subee said:So you think this situation is only recent when Biden "put out the welcome mat?"Hahahaha.
Actually, Democrats before he became president, such as those who passed "sanctuary city" laws, are mostly to blame. And then he threw gasoline onto the dumpster fire they created and he has shown little interest in putting it out.
Here in Denver, we didn't have scores of Venezuelans until the past few years. There was Venezuelan man in the article said he came because he said he heard from friends that Denver was friendly to immigrants? That's ALL on Democrats.
subee said:So you think this situation is only recent when Biden "put out the welcome mat?"Hahahaha.
I think it's reasonable to have concern about how we conduct business at our southern border. It's reasonable to have concern about the very real shortcomings of our processes surrounding refugees.
I agree with you that the attempt to blame Biden for this ongoing border issue is a dramedy production. I think that Americans outside of the right wing echo chamber are increasingly growing impatient with the contradictory and unimaginative political leadership from Trump's Republican Party.
