What caught your attention in the world today?

I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news.  I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

According to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.

Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.

The arrested the guy the next day.

What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

Of course, I understand that the California bar is trying to disbar him.  I was only using the Post as a right wing source and joking that even THEY are reporting the story correctly, and if anyone is really interested in the 11 disciplinary charges against him, they can easily look it.  I would love to see his psych eval.  and if he is in early dementia.

Look at the photographs of January 6th.  You can't see people climbing up balconies to gain entrance to the WH (White House)?  The building looks like a mountain of sugar covered with ants.

I recall seeing pictures of several people climbing  a wall to access the Capital building, but don't recall pictures of anyone trying to breach the White House.

US military shoots down 'object' flying in territorial waters over Alaska

The U.S. military shot down an "object" that was flying in territorial waters over Alaska, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said on Friday afternoon during a White House press briefing.

Watching press coverage now, Air Force fly by determined no humans aboard object which was at 40,000 ft, could interfere with aviation so brought down. Expect to recover.

White nationalist blah blah blah.  Racism blah blah blah.  Trump, Trump, Trump, blah blah blah.  One trick ponies.

I do not care of those of you who watch Tucker Carlson and voted for Trump think.   I will still call out the racist white nationalist trash that walk the halls of Congress and the Senate.

The other day the House Oversight committee met and questioned border patrol officers about their concerns. One of the themes was the increase in numbers of people coming across.  Multiple conservative members asked why the numbers have increased and at one point the sworn testimony reflected that the migrants said they were told by word of mouth and their social media that the American border was open.  It was clearly determined in testimony that their BP directives and objectives have not changed.

It seems to me that the only thing that changed is that conservatives started saying loudly and often that the southern border was open.  Maybe that's why the migrants think that the border is open.

Under her proposal, a Massachusetts family with an infant and 2-year-old making about $130,000 a year wouldn't pay more than $10 per day or $200 a month. That would be a big drop-off from the current average cost of $3,128 a month.

We paid $90+/ day for infant care in the mid 80s.

The plan says higher-income families would have to spend no more than 7% of their earnings on child care, and those making under 75% of their state median income would be fully covered.

"A lack of child care is holding back our economy and keeping parents out of the workforce - it's giving lie to the notion that there's equal opportunity in our country," Warren said in a statement. "We can't build a future by shortchanging our babies and families. The more we invest in child care, the better for our families, our small businesses and our entire economy."

With abortion rights under attack in conservative states we likely will need more assistance with the expenses associated with more children born to vulnerable women.  Maybe this will help.

TMB, do you really believe that the right wants to level the playing field for kids AFTER they are born?
