I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.
On 9/8/2022 at 6:29 AM, Beerman said:I would disagree that Oz is nothing but a reality TV star or that he is unqualified. Congress is full of people from various backgrounds. The left is enamoured with many who are lacking in political, professional, and life experience. AOC comes to mind.
And, isn't that one purpose of a debate? To let the voter determine who is and isn't qualified?
To say Fetterman has nothing to gain is ludicrous and a loser's mentality. In one poll, he's only up 48 to 44%. What he has to gain is what any other candidate would have to gain by letting the voter compare and contrast his ideas, beliefs, personality, etc to the other candidate in a debate. And, it would also be his chance to shut down the notion that his cognitive abilities aren't up to what is required to be a US Senator.
Saying he has nothing to gain is simply a positive spin on the feeling that he has too much to lose.
Umm … even granting all you’ve claimed about Fetterman, I would still vote for him over Oz if I was a PA voter. There are too many snake oil merchants in our legislatures as it is.
I agree that he needs to address questions about his cognitive ability. We have zero facts about Fetterman’s deficits except for some expressive aphasia. We know he was hospitalized very quickly. If he was fast enough to qualify for tpa, he could well have gotten off very lightly. Or not. Either way, the voters need hard info … not a tweetstorm.
Oz has already attempted to bully Fetterman over his health. I can’t say I blame him for taking his time deciding whether to debate him.

I've already pointed out that not everyone debates including the senators here in Florida, but suddenly the virtues of debate such as pointed out by Beerman are important in this race. He's on Fox News saying the debate isn't finalized and hinting that Fetterman doesn't want to debate him.
Fetterman is a politician with political experience that I think qualifies him better. But I also can't disagree that Democrats go for the inexperienced. But it does seem that Republican actors, reality stars, etc. seem to get positions more readily including California. But I digress.
I think that Oz mocking his health and speech troubles is pretty ignorant considering he's a physician. I think he knows on the stage that if he can trip Fetterman up and he has difficulty talking Fetterman is going to look incompetent. We saw this with Biden on the defensive about his stammer. The general public won't know that expressive aphasia doesn't equal intellectual failings.
But it might backfire because undecided voters might be sympathetic to him getting back on his feet after his stroke, not giving up and soldiering on. Apparently there is a huge number of undecided voters with Fetterman leading the decided voters. Historically after Labor Day polls tend to shift so it's too early to tell.
Speaking of Florida. Clearly we've turned red....but barely.... DeSantis and Rick Scott for example barely squeezed in. Turns out our senate race between Demings and Rubio looks really close and his seat is in danger. The realist in me doesn't really see that happening though, but good to see him sweat.
Saw on Yahoo 'news'-feed that Putin has been urged to "GTFO" because everything is going wrong with the (not-) war. Many upper-rank folks at the Kremlin, pretty much en masse, are starting to turn against him, having written him an open-letter telling him that it is time for him to leave his position as head of Russia.
That's some kind of "w00t!" news, ain't it?!

Outcome depends on who can kill off whom the fastest. Is it any wonder that our far right wing has been singing their praises for a few years now?
I know a person by the he-ros and she-ros they have. When people show you who you are, believe them. (Paraphrased from Maya Angelou.)

Yes it is. Our family is quietly hopeful that Putin will withdraw from this initiative that he cannot sustain rather than doing something desperate and depraved.

He has a whole lot of power and it's unlikely his reign of terror will end anytime soon, but good to hear the tides might be turning against him. Having control of the media, he still enjoys popularity amongst the Russian people with crazy high approval ratings. But again he controls the narrative so who knows.

Indeed. We have extended family in Belarus who believe Putin. While their cousins are fighting in Ukraine.

BBC interviewed some people in Belarus recently on their Podcast. Scary stuff. One man was in Belarus and his sister was in Ukraine. He disowned her after she tried to tell him the truth.
QuoteJohnson — infamous for his conspiracy theories, his racist take on Jan. 6, his involvement in the 2020 coup and his eagerness to spread Russian propaganda — has given Democrats plenty of ammunition in Wisconsin’s critical Senate race. But perhaps his most useful contribution to the Democratic campaign has been to make the Democrats’ economic populist message for them.
Interesting take on a right wing candidate in Wisconsin.

It seems that Ron Johnson has been a fount of BS since he spent 4th of July in Russia. Maybe he'll be held accountable for his participation in the fake elector nonsense.

It seems that there's a market among conservative voters for badly done, rhetoric based films that are factually challenged. There's still money to be taken from them before the fever breaks.
I wonder if Trump will host a screening of the movie at his resort and will promote it on his social media. From the descriptions it sounds like a movie we will be hearing about here in these threads from time to time.
