I would appreciate any information on what I can do to prepare myself NOW for my start date in 23 days?????????????

Thank you!!

I would just enjoy these days to relax and get yourself organized as far as meal planning goes

Once nursing school starts you won't have much down time.

You are so right, but I AM SO EXCITED!!

Relax. Really. Your brain is going to be so full of info and stuff to do in 3 weeks, you are going to feel very overwhelmed. Just rest and enjoy your break!! I have a bunch of reading to do for my class starting on the 12tb. I'm not even touching my book until the 11th!!

I start in January as well. My preparation has involved making sure I have all my require supplies (stethoscope, scrubs, shoes, etc) as well as those items that are recommended (by those on AN who have been through it already) to be helpful such as nclex books and study resources. Additionally, I am getting my house in order - organizing closets, doing goodwill runs, and deep cleaning. Last but not least, I am spending time with my friends and husband. The reality is, no matter how excited I am for nursing school to start, it is just another semester of school and about two weeks in, I will wish I had taken this time to decompress, relax, and enjoy my winter break. Good luck on your first term!

Which NCLEX review books did you buy? =)

After just successfully completing my first semester I would say RELAX AND ENJOY THIS TIME. Once school starts it is crazy roller coaster with lots of peaks, valleys, curves and drops. RELAX! I cant emphasize enough in 23 days you will be wishing you had if you do not. Congrats and good luck on your journey!

I agree. Try to relax and do something special for yourself. Once classes start you will be busy with reading, homework, studying, clinical and whatever else they throw at you :) Weekends will usually be filled with reading/studying, so now is the best time to relax. I start my last semester of school in Jan. and believe me, I have done NOTHING school related during this Christmas break. Good luck to you!! :) :)

^ yes just sleep, enjoy not being stressed.

I know you're excited to start, but you really can't prepare in advance for nursing school. It's something you'll just have to experience first hand.

As everyone else has said above: relax & enjoy your free time while you have it now :)

Good luck with nursing school!

I am also starting next month. I am prepping by deep cleaning my house, putting together freezer meals and a list of easy crockpot meals, and getting a study area set up in my bedroom so I have a place to go and close the door to keep the kids out. I'm printing and framing some inspirational quotes about nursing to hang around the desk, to keep me going if/when I am struggling. Other than that... I'm spending as much time with my kids as I can, as I've explained to them that life is probably going to change drastically come next month!

I would request a reading list and start reading and doing NCLEX questions. Looking back, I wish I had more time for reading.
