WGU Sept 2014..Anyone??

Greetings my fellow Nurses, I am aiming to begin WGU RN-BSN in Sept. Anyone else? Any current WGU students or Alum want to share any words of wisdom??

Hey everyone...how are classes going?

I just finished my Advanced Technology class which I had to submit a paper to task stream. It took 2 days for it to be graded and PASSED. I have one more class in this term then I can start on my 2nd terms classes....Moving right along.

Just curious, how do you like it so far? I'm debating on starting here. But my job wont give tuition help with this school so that's my hesitation.

Most jobs don't give tuition help period. Dont let it stop you from attending a good school. Its a great school. Planning my start date for Oct 2015. I cant wait.

If all you have is just tuition money from work then you will need to attend a school they will pay for but if that is not the only option, I reccommend WGU. I heard alot of great things about the school.

So I have a question. Say after you complete your degree at WGU and you want to transfer to another school. Will the transcript from WGU say "GPA 3.0" or will it say something else implying the equivalent of 3.0gpa? (Just asking wondering if it will sound like a knock-off degree)

Hopefully an actual graduate of the pre-licensing program can answer but to my knowledge from talking to my enrollment counselor:

Their program is pass or fail. If you don't competently complete the nursing skills in your assessment you fail. It's all based on how competent you are in providing nursing skills to patients.

They use 3.0 gpa which I believe is equivalent to a B average because they do not function on traditional school letter grades. It would be a disservice to students giving all 4.0s when graduating because not many will accomplish the work of a 4.0 average. When you graduate it will show 3.0.

Many schools accept their degree. No one has reported any problem in moving on to higher education or specialties.

I am working towards October cohort. Then plan to move on to NP.

Definitely not a knockoff degree.

Just saw you said Sept 2014. Are you meaning to say Sept 2015??

Checking with another student to see if they know about it as well.

It doesn't give a GPA. It lists the class, says "pass" or "not passed" and then gives the number of credits that particular class is worth. After the transcript itself, it gives a "transcript key" that explains the transcript. On it, it explains "Pass" means "successful completion of a course of study. Student has demonstrated the required competencies by passing the final assessment with a grade equivalent of a B or better or 3.0 grade points on a 4.0 scale."

It then goes on to say "Not passed" means "Student failed to complete a course of study in the time allotted. To meet program requirements, the student generally re-enrolls in the course of study in a subsequent term."

Need to clarify that the above description is for the RN-BSN and RN-MSN programs. I do not know what, if anything, is done differently for the pre-licensure program.

How's everyone else doing here? I'm happy to report I finished my term and all of my credits on 2/28 RN-BSN in 6 months is totally doable I probably took off over two months due to laziness, working over time, holidays, surgery, and being sick twice too!
