  1. Kathy.. me too... maybe we will be starting around the same time
  2. Hello niteshift_mister87 Stats is definitely a difficult class. I have no experience with it at WGU but I have read in other WGU threads that stats is very doable. I know they use the statcrunch program which is a lot like using a fancy calculator to populate your answers. The biochem class, I've read that it is challenging, but very doable and people are stating that they truly learned a lot and enjoyed the class. Wish I had more direct experience with WGU to answer your questions, but good luck and I hope you get some replies, as I'm sure many people would like to read that
  3. Dyoshirn, From what I understand, you get out of this what you put into it.... and even if you think you know the material, I would say a quick study session is still a great idea (from what I'm reading)... you can still learn new things. Which is what the ultimate goal is !! I want to feel like I am really gaining new knowledge and learning things that will prepare me in the future :)
  4. Klone, Thank you SO MUCH for your detailed response. That was so helpful. I have been reading wonderful things about this school and you just solidified it. :) That's great about the mentors for the MSN program, I will definitely utilize that to my advantage. You are awesome, thanks again !!
  5. Hi Kathy, My enrollment counselor told me my projected start date right after I applied, pending I got all of my transcripts in on time, background check, and so forth. As of Monday (Dec 29th) I got the e-mail that all of my transcripts had been received, and my counselor said it would take about 5 business days for them to be reviewed. She then told me March 1st is when I would be able to start, but she couldn't officially secure my seat until my background check and FAFSA were completed... at that point I would do my intake interview. After my intake interview, I will receive my degree plan. Michelle
  6. I attended Rasmussen RN program, in New Port Richey. I loved it. The accreditation depends on the campus. As far as I know it is regionally accredited. I have heard mixed reviews about the Tampa campus.
  7. A lot of the posts about the BSN and MSN programs are from a while ago. I'd love to start a newer thread about the program. Personally, I am to start the MSN specializing in education this March 2015. I would love to hear from students that will be starting, as well as current students, to offer advice and answer questions that many of us have! I'd like to hear more about everyone's experience so far... a few questions I've had include: Do you feel that you have the content/resources you need to successfully complete your exams/papers? What are some difficulties you've experienced and how did you overcome them? What advice can you offer on setting a schedule to complete coursework in a timely manner? How are the proctored assessments? Level of difficulty? How did you prepare? Are they crazy about grammar and whatnot... or are they more interested that you are mastering the subject (content)? What do you particularly like about the program so far? Favorite things vs. things you wish were done differently? I keep hearing about Capstone, and the many hours you have to put into this. How do they count your hours? Is someone signing off on them or are you keeping your own hours log? A little background about me-- I was an LPN for 7 years. I've worked mostly at a hospital on a telemetry unit. I did one year in a LTC/Rehab specializing in long term vent patients. I am a recent graduate at a local college where I completed my LPN to RN ADN. I am now working as an RN on a telemetry unit. I have a very strong clinical background and I'm looking forward to continuing my education ! It's been very stressful looking into schools and trying to decide where to go. WGU seems like a great fit. I have co-workers that have done it and have nothing but nice things to say. Please, feel free to add questions to this thread. I hope to hear from many of you! Thank you in advance, and good luck to all !!
  8. When you say "defended my capstone"... was this an online interview? Can you discuss that briefly?
  9. How did you prepare for the objective exams? Do they give you outlines, or can the mentor give you any study guides to help prepare/know what to focus on for these?
  10. How do they count your hours? Are they contacting people or are you having something signed?
  11. Just curious, how do you like it so far? I'm debating on starting here. But my job wont give tuition help with this school so that's my hesitation.
  12. I am a graduate of PHSC nursing program (I did LPN there, and then decided to do my transition to RN at Rasmussen, which I actually liked way better than PHSC). I also have the "inside scoop" on how they choose their nursing student candidates. PHSC weighs the TEAS test very heavily as part of your acceptance to the program. So do the absolute best you can on that before you submit it. Yes, GPA is part of it, but TEAS is also very important. Good luck.
  13. I can't seem to find what classes they require to start the program? (such as college algebra, psychology and so forth).
  14. Is college algebra required? Also, many of my classes are from 10 years ago... (psychology, nutrition)... I've been a nurse for 8 years. Do they have a limit on how old your class can be?
