Greetings my fellow Nurses, I am aiming to begin WGU RN-BSN in Sept. Anyone else? Any current WGU students or Alum want to share any words of wisdom??
If you're decently motivated it should take 2 terms (one year) to complete 43 CUs. However, one of our members completed 50 CUs in less than four months, but she was totally ultra motivated. Good luck to you!I start RN-BSN on Sept 1 as well and have 43 CU to complete. About how long do you think that will take if I'm motivated, but also have "life and job" going on as well?
It's taken forever and a half but my award letter finally came this morning and hopefully I can start the EWB orientation class today, though I haven't been granted access to it yet even though I'm financially cleared.
I will say this I hope it does not take days on end for classes to be unlocked, I'm going to be really upset if I have to spend more time waiting for other people when I've done everything I need to to get started/move on. More than once I have had to wait a week for my enrollment counselor to email me back or answer my calls even when calling and emailing during normal business hours. Can anyone currently doing classes or who has completed classes give me insight into wait times for classes unlocking? Several people have given me the impression mentors are much better than enrollment counselors at this and I really hope that's true :/
Well from what I saw a staff member post, you move along with your cohort. So I doubt you will be able move ahead of your class. It's not like RN to BSN where you are going at your own pace. Pre Licensing has cohorts of students that move along together with the school curriculum time frame. The student guide for the program gives you good information on that.
Ok I just found responses from the instructor on here when I asked a question. So here is the correction on what I said.
My question:
Do we go to a facility at all during out class times? Like labs or skills training facility? Any actual meetings for the cohorts?
Her answer:
Yes, cohorts meet for labs and you will likely run into classmates at the hospital as well. Usually someone is working the same day as you. The nonclinical courses are a little more flexible than the clinical courses as far as scheduling. Sometimes they will let you pick which one you want to work on next. They are sort of self paced, but you have firm deadlines by when somethings needs to be done by. (You can't just roll everything over to the next term.)
You do work mostly alone, but you will interact with your cohort.
Hope that helps
thank you for your response ShondaJ, however that does not apply, I and several others including the OP are talking about the RN-BSN or RN-MSN programs.
I know nothing about the pre-licensure program, but the RN-whatever program, you work completely at your own pace. Your mentor unlocks all classes for the semester at once at the beginning, and you finish on your own schedule. Once you've completed all classes, you can ask to accelerate and they will generally unlock one class at a time at that point. It only takes a day or two to unlock a class, generally.

I think I am in a similar boat to many of you. I start RN-BSN on Sept 1 as well and have 43 CU to complete. About how long do you think that will take if I'm motivated, but also have "life and job" going on as well? Best of luck to each of you who are doing the program!
