I'll be graduating from LVN school in November and want to go on to an LVN-RN program. I haven't done any RN pre-requisites and, at age 50, don't want to take the time to do so... so I'm looking for a program with "built in" pre-reqs. I'm curious about West Coast University but can't find much info about it. Please tell me what you know about it... thanks!
I had my first meeting this afternoon at the Anaheim campus. I knew the cost was high, but my rep made it sound do-able...we'll see how do-able it is come next Thursday. I took the HESI and passed with flying colors. They're looking to start me into the November 10th class. Still debating whether or not I wanna go thru with this though.
The cost is definitely high, but I have to say it is worth it. Just think, if you put it off even longer than that is more time (and $) lost. I am pretty sure that the cost goes up with time. It really does fly by too. It has been 11 months for me and it seems to be just yesterday I started. The first 4 terms of prerequisites are fairly simple, not too hard, just don't let yourself become overwhelmed. I would def recommend online classes if you can discipline yourself to do the work because you have much more time to work or do other things. Let me know if you have any questions for me I would be happy to answer them for you! :wink2:
Here's a question about WCU...I have all my prerequisite's done. Does anyone know if you can just start the nursing sequence if all you prerequisite's are excepted?
Last time I spoke with admissions they were working on it. Since they had so many people with their prerequisites done they were trying to set that up instead of just waiting around.
I would give them a call and see.
I got the strangest call from WCU last week. I has my FA appt, but missed it because I've been pretty sick. They told me if they didnt hear from me soon, they'd cancel me. Strange, considering there's nothing to cancel...
I think I've decided against WCU. Its just too much money, and for all that money, you'll only have your ADN. I think I'm going to stick with CC for my pre-reqs and try and get into a university after and just get my BSN.
Good luck to all those going through WCU :)

I just started my 5th term at WCU Anaheim campus. So far it has not been too bad. If you have a family and are working it might be a little more stressful to do. I took english, psych, and sociology online and found it fairly easy. As long as you stay on top of your work and don't fall behind. I had Dr. Mo for A and P, he is a great teacher. Very nice, funny, and understanding of the fact that WCU is not our life, we have other things going on too. I just started microbiology and the LVN-RN transition course. The transition course seems like it is going to be a lot of work (group projects, care plans, hesi to pass, etc) but the term ahead of me did it so i know it's possible). Good luck to you
