I'll be graduating from LVN school in November and want to go on to an LVN-RN program. I haven't done any RN pre-requisites and, at age 50, don't want to take the time to do so... so I'm looking for a program with "built in" pre-reqs. I'm curious about West Coast University but can't find much info about it. Please tell me what you know about it... thanks!
Dr sinha is something. I like him, he is precise and smart. Although a lot of people in my group did not like him. English barriers and he is strict. On thing I can tell you, be very prompt with the lab assignments, do not be late and do not be absent. always, always do the assignments. His test is open book in an index card. write all the important info in the book. DO NOT MEMORIZED YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL. sTUDY SMART. :)
Hello all-
I have a couple questions for those of you that have/are attending WCU without an LVN/LPN. I'm really want to enroll in their new BSN program and am waiting for their call back to recieve more info.
1) Does your science GPA have to be at a certain level like many of the California public nursing programs?
(I had to repeat Micro, and A&P and retook them @ different institutions than where I originally took them, so I'm having trouble finding a RN program that will accept me.)
2) Also, is it realistic to hope to start the WCU program in say, January if I apply within the next month?
I'm going to be relocating from NY to Cali at the end of this year and really need to finish my RN, hopefully BSN. I have taken all of the nursing pre/coreqs and I mean all of em'! The WCU program seems great because you can finish fairly quickly and can start working.
Thanks people!:heartbeat

1) They don't require a 2.5 GPA for your sciences, like the other schools. The classes do have to have been completed within 5yrs with a C or better. I'm not sure about having repeated a pre-requisite. They would have to evaluate your transcripts.
2) WCU doesn't have a waiting list, so it is very realistic that you'd be able to start by January. They have new classes starting every 10wks.
I hope this helps. Though, I don't know if they may have changed anything since I started.
Good Luck! :)
so what is the dirt on WCU?anyone starting at the anaheim campus in the fall? if so when?
I am starting at WCU the Anaheim campus in the fall too. I go for orientation on Aug. 26th, at 0900 maybe I will see you there.
Do you know anything about times of the classes and if we have any say in we can attend morning, afternoon or evening classes, or are we assigned to the slots available?
I don't know where you are in the process, but here is how it went for me. In May I wandered into the Anaheim campus and met Linda, who took me on a tour. She became my advisor and called me at the begining of June and sched. me for the entrance exam. I passed and the next day took care of the financials. She called me in earily August and let me know when the orientation was. Maybe you should call your advisor and find out what's going on. Hope this helped.
Hello all, I made it through my first week of classes at the Anaheim campus. I have Dr. Mo for Anatomy and Ryan Shiroma for English. They are both great. This is good because it has been 28 years since I have been in school. Any of you out there have a simalar experience, I would love to hear about it.
