West Coast University?

Published

I'll be graduating from LVN school in November and want to go on to an LVN-RN program. I haven't done any RN pre-requisites and, at age 50, don't want to take the time to do so... so I'm looking for a program with "built in" pre-reqs. I'm curious about West Coast University but can't find much info about it. Please tell me what you know about it... thanks!

I am trying to get approved without a cosigner from wells fargo, but if I need a cosigner I was just going to do the parent plus loan. Everything is still kind of in the wood works, and no I did not call any other schools :( Cal State Fullerton's Anesthetist program was really the only one I was interested in, they do have other programs there too, so I figure if they accept WCU's BSN for the CRNA school, then the PA school should probably accept it too.

wow i hope i have that many transferrable credits! I'm going down to take the hesi and get my transcripts evaluated in 3 weeks. How much did you end up saving (if you don't mind my asking?) And how difficult is the hesi?

Yummycherry - I took the HESI at West Coast yesterday and passed. I have to say it is not that hard. I am a 41 year old woman with limited education (dropped out of high school at 17 and took my GED - only have about 9 credits at the local Jr. College) If you know your fractions in math you should be fine in that area. I did not find that the book that West Coast gave me to study really did anything. I studied all the medical vocabulary and VERY little was on the test.

Lyssa - I might be starting on the 22. I go on Monday to meet with Financial Aid - that is going to be the kicker. 116,000 is a LOT of money... I have children are old as you though :) Best of luck to you!

Thank you and good luck to you too!!! I'm not sure yet but the estimate so far is about 93,000 total and I had all the pre reqs done but cultural pluralism and bio chem. I decided last weds that I was even considering WCU and I took the hesi the same day and passed :) Its not hard at all, mostely common sense except the vocabulary part, make sure you look over the terms from the book they gave you and you should be fine. Good luck yummycherry!!

Thanks for all of your advice! I was a little worried when i saw how MANY vocab terms were listed so its nice to know there's not that many on the exam!

yummycherry - I studied all the vocabulary in the book and very little of it was on the exam...

Is anyone going to the BSN Registration this March 9th? It's for the April 13th start.

Kryztality - I went today for my financial aid - my start date is June 22 unless someone drops from the April... Best of luck to you!

hello kithzeez!

thank you for your valuable input! i wanted to ask you what were the average age groups in your class?

in my classes at the ontario campus, the age group is 25 to 45. most of us have families and jobs while we are going to school. there are a small number of 19-25 year olds. i hope that helps.

Does anyone know the price of the program if you have all the pre recs done and you are just going to do the nursing part.

Hey I was just wondering if anyone knows if WCU alumni have issues getting jobs due to the school not being regionally accredited by the NLN? And what schools would accept the BSN for masters program cuz I'm considering going in to Care Management or becoming a Nurse anesthesist after ..? Ohhh and how does the financial aid work? What do the look at?
