West Coast University spring 2019

U.S.A. California

Hey guys!

i just got accepted into West Coast University in Orange County. I'm super anxious/excited about starting the program and I was even more in shock to find out that with all the classes I'm transferring I'll only end up with about $40,000 in loans for my BSN degree. I'm really impressed with their NCLEX pass rates (93%) and I'm also glad they are WASC, CCNE, and CBN accredited.

Im going to be moving from Northern California (Sacramento) for this program and I was wondering if there's anyone (female) that would need a roommate? I don't want to live on my own because the cost of living can be super pricey in Orange County and I won't be working.

Another question I have is how good are the professors? I have a 3.8 overall GPA with A's in most of my sciences but I've alwayd had to study hard. I expect nursing to be the hardest thing I'll ever had to study but I think it all begins with a great professor..

any words of advice from WCU graduates or current students?

Hey everyone. I'm trying to get some of my prerequisites transferred in still and I start in April 2020. Will this affect the seating for my classes?

No it won’t

You'll get in! I'm in my second quarter :) besbest of luck to you both!

Oops reply went to wrong post. I apologize. @epowetata in response to your question ... u will have until the end of your first quarter at WCU to transfer in classes. I took a few more 8 week prereqs at a local jc while attending my first quarter at WCU in order to get done faster. Best of luck to you

Hello,

I’ll be starting in April 2020 and currently working a full-time job... I transferred most of my GE classes, only need to take Oral Comm and Chemistry along with the other 4 mandatory GE courses at WCU. Got my proposed schedule and I don’t start nursing classes until the 2nd semester... wondering if I should still work full time while taking my GE classes (1st semester) or should I go part time? Any advice? I for sure plan on working part-time/on call once I start core nursing classes..

Is anyone having trouble transferring in pre-requisites to West Coast University?

For example.. all of the pre-requisites I have are the required and valid pre-requisites for 99% of the nursing programs in California such as A&P I (BIO 430), A&P II (BIO 431 equivalent/BIO 26 at CSUS), Intro to Chemistry (CHEM 305 in NorCal) , Statistics (Stat 300 in NorCal).

I did take A&P I and A&P II at two separate campuses. I have taken Intro to Chemistry which is the required pre-requisite for the nursing programs as well as statistics. However, West Coast so far isnt validating these. They will not take statistics as a transfer for their math course.

Anyone have the same issue? I will be talking to the registrar.

Most likely it is financial. Requiring one to take courses at WCU while refusing to acknowledge valid transfer of courses from other schools, maximizes the tuition and fees WCU will get from a new student.

What math is required?

If you keep pushing they will take it. In my experience when they didn't want to take some of my classes I just got a copy of a syllabus and brought it in to the registrar and they accepted the classes.

@epowetata they didnt want to take a few of mine either . . Statistics being one of them but I got a syllabus like they asked and they approved it. If it qualifies they'll wave it. In my experience so far everyone at the school has tried to help as much as they can. Good luck.
