West Coast University spring 2019

U.S.A. California

Hey guys!

i just got accepted into West Coast University in Orange County. I'm super anxious/excited about starting the program and I was even more in shock to find out that with all the classes I'm transferring I'll only end up with about $40,000 in loans for my BSN degree. I'm really impressed with their NCLEX pass rates (93%) and I'm also glad they are WASC, CCNE, and CBN accredited.

Im going to be moving from Northern California (Sacramento) for this program and I was wondering if there's anyone (female) that would need a roommate? I don't want to live on my own because the cost of living can be super pricey in Orange County and I won't be working.

Another question I have is how good are the professors? I have a 3.8 overall GPA with A's in most of my sciences but I've alwayd had to study hard. I expect nursing to be the hardest thing I'll ever had to study but I think it all begins with a great professor..

any words of advice from WCU graduates or current students?

Hello,

96k + financial aid for me is about $10k per year so it cut it down close to $76k, which is almost half..

That's good! However, I have seen multiple people who have gotten their tuition down to around 50-60k for all of their terms and I am trying to find out how... unless we just hope Bernie wins the election and he'll include student loan forgiveness for all types of loans.. LOL

Yesss that’s my hope as well haha. I think some people get scholarships, etc but I thought you’ll only be qualified if you don’t get approved for a loan. Could be wrong

So mine is like this

transferred 47units

-1st yr(10m) $37155,

-2nd yr(10m) $34,060,

-3rd yr(6m) $17030

total: 88,245

I'm paying $1000/m (26m)

88,245- $26000

Total loan is $62,245

Do you guys know if the scholarship is available to those who didn’t get turned down for a loan?

By any chance, do you know if they price the semester by units? I'm transferring all of my GE's but I don't really know how to calculate those classes in terms of $ I would be saving!

No it is not. You have to be rejected by at least two loans and have no cosigner. Then it is based on merit...meaning your grades and your TEAS or HESI score

Hello!

I have a question for anyone who already is a student at WCU who took Pathophysiology: Did you purchase the optional book “Professional Guide to Pathophysiology“ Edition 4 By Laura Willis.
I’m not sure if I should purchase it because I’m wondering if it’s even helpful for the class. I’m taking Professor Baroon if that helps.

 thanks!

My reg & Tech day is feb 20. Orientation on March 27.

Hey pmc888,

Have you reviewed your syllabi on Blackboard? I'm so confused as to whether or not ALL classes are 100% online because some are still saying Blended Learning modality, for example, FYS 001. I tried contacting my advisor but haven't heard back at all! This is so frustrating.

FYS is partially online and part in class. You would typically meet three times during the term. But due to the COVID 19 the school has been closed and all classes are currently online fully. They may conduct lectures on blackboard collaborate it depends on your professor but I am sure they will post an announcement before the first day of class. Good luck with your first term !

I did not use any book during patho. The professor I had had posted recorded lectures with the slides and that was enough. You can also find a lot of the optional books online in pdf form for free or much cheaper. The bookstore while convenient is very expensive. But if you insist on getting the book through the bookstore you can always return it if you don't end up using it.
