Hi everyone,
I am seriously considering joining the Air Force but I have a crazy question. How strict are they on the weight requirement? I am about 7 lbs away from meeting it but wasn't sure how strict they were. Thanks!

Ha ... height is one area where I cannot afford to lose any numbers!! At 4'11" I'm only an inch over the minimum requirement to commission! I'm curious to see where my height is measured, because I'm close to 5'0" but not quite there.

When you say tape--do you mean measuring your abdomen?? I was interested in military nursing at one point--perhaps I will look into the reserves

it is neck and waist -- I think and it is x3. However the guy who did mine measured once and wrote it down three times.

had to use the tape test during every weigh-in. just the way i'm built. like one of the best comapny commanders i have ever been around once said "i'd rather have a company of fat boddies that can pass a pt test than pencile necks that cant do a push up".
Yeah, I'm probably going to always be tape-tested. I'm super-short and built with lots of muscle, which isn't a bad thing in the long run, I don't really conform to the BMI indicators. :) I can do some push-ups!!
Are O4 and above exempt from the semi-annual PT ?????? I thought I read it on here somewhere..

Hahahahah.....Oh, I'm sorry, you are being SERIOUS (I am teasing you)
Nope, EVERYONE's gotta do the semi-annual PT. From buck PVT to full bird....

It's only your waist measurement for the Air Force (once you're in - I was only waist measured at MEPS under AF standards but you get all sorts of people who obviously have no clue). And you need to ensure it's measured the three times because they take the average.
I can't stand it when people at MEPS just don't do their job. Sorry that happened to you.
No. Everyone up to the general does it. The only way you're exempt is if you're injured and on medical profile.
Pooh, Once again thanks for the info!!!!
Personally I would LOVE to be on the track with my general - I think that would be cool! :)

Go to Bragg: Corps & Division CG/SGM regularly run Ardennes St & PT tests w/ soldiers; not to mention they jump regularly w/ them.
