Ditto what the others said. Weekends are more laid back; fewer doctors rounding, fewer diagnostic tests, fewer ancillary staff, fewer surgeries...there may be more family if they have weekends off to visit their loved one, but I find families much easier to deal with and still get my work done than with the rest of the above.
I prefer weekends due to the lack of administration, management, and other disciplines (PT, case management, dietary, SW, OT, ST, business office, marketing, etc).
It is true that more family members tend to visit on weekends, but some charisma and good interpersonal skills can do wonders in keeping fires from starting.
