Weatherford College Spring 2011 applicants

Published

Hi! Who is applying to Weatherford for the spring 2011 semester?

I took the TEAS yesterday and didn't do as well as I was hoping. I am going to retake it and hopefully then I will have 18 or 19 points. It seems that the point system has changed and is only 23 possible points now, rather than 26.

I really don't know if 18 or 19 will be enough, but I haven't completed Micro so that is going to hurt me. I figure it is worth a try though! You can't win if you don't play! lol.

So who else is applying? How many points does everyone have?

I reapplied with the same test scores and overall points. I think I have a good shot this time, it was just too competitive with only 20 spots last time around.

My husband and I have been together for 6 years, married for 4. We feel to a certain extent that our life is on hold, so to speak, until I graduate. We are pretty sure we want a family, but we are absolutely certain we don't want to start until after I graduate. Its just hard feeling like so much is dependent upon me getting into Nursing school.

I totally understand... I am a divorced mother of 2 and it def makes it harder. I work fulltime in a opt office making pretty good money which I can't afford to walk away from because I have to provide for my family. I was attending a lvn program a year ago but it didn't work out for various reasons. I did manage to learn a lot and experience patient care in a clinical setting. That was a blessing and a curse because now I truly understand that nursing is my calling . Although it was hard working full time during the week , class 6 to 10 two nights a week and clinicals every other weekend for 12 hours a day. When I made it home in the evening with the scent of the nursing home all over me,my feet and back killing me I had the biggest smile on my face and sense of fulfillment

It sounds like you definitely know that nursing is for you!! I also work full time, and will most likely continue to, at least for the first semester or so. It would be pretty tough for us to manage on one income, but it might be more beneficial in the long run if I can concentrate solely on Nursing school.

Good luck to you!! It sounds like this is your calling. I hope that KL is able to answer your questions tomorrow. You could do us all a favor tomorrow when you talk to her, and ask when our letters are being mailed out! :p

Well, I'm glad spring break is over! It just means we are that much closer to finding out if we are accepted. As we get closer to April, I get more anxious and nervous.

Ugh... I couldn't take it anymore, I had to call and speak to KL. The anticipation is driving me up the wall!! She said they are actually still working on our applications, and letters will go out as late as April 8th. So the waiting game continues.

She said she couldn't give me specifics on points, but that as it looks now, some 17's and higher are getting in, and some 17's and lower will be selected for the Alternate List. She said it all depends on your composite score. So... we shall see! I'm not sure if that makes me feel better or worse, because I had 17 points. :uhoh3:

Me too studentCL, Me too! We're getting close now. Scary, exciting, anguishing, all wrapped up into one feeling.

Well I have 18 points so hopefully I will get in. Dreamer, I feel confident for you. I have a good feeling about it!

I hope you're right! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us!!

I wonder how many 17s they have??? I have faith you will get in Dreamer!

I'm hoping and praying not very many, and that I'm at the top of that bunch!

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you too, Sherri!

It's really just right around the corner. When Dreamer posted yesterday that some 17's and up were likely to get in, it really didn't make me feel any better. I thought I would feel confident and happy, but it just makes me CRAZY!! I had 18 points but I keep worrying that I didn't turn everything in, or I made a mistake somewhere. Or the number will change to 19 or something. UGH! I guess I won't feel completely happy and excited until I have a letter in my hand. :) Hopefully April 1! I don't want to wait another week!!

It definitely didn't make me feel any better, either. If anything, I feel more anxiety now, knowing that I could be on either end of that spectrum. And then of course I find myself doubting it all together, thinking to myself that these are not solid numbers because she is still processing applications, so anything could change. The day I will be able to breathe again will be the day I get a letter in the mail. Until then, I'll remain a big bundle of nerves!
