Weatherford College Spring 2011 applicants

Published

Hi! Who is applying to Weatherford for the spring 2011 semester?

I took the TEAS yesterday and didn't do as well as I was hoping. I am going to retake it and hopefully then I will have 18 or 19 points. It seems that the point system has changed and is only 23 possible points now, rather than 26.

I really don't know if 18 or 19 will be enough, but I haven't completed Micro so that is going to hurt me. I figure it is worth a try though! You can't win if you don't play! lol.

So who else is applying? How many points does everyone have?

Has anyone dropped off their applications? I dropped mine off yesterday and am feeling okay about it. I thought I had 17 points for some reason, but after I dropped my application off I went home and recalculated and I actually had 18 points. I am feeling much better knowing I have 18, but I hope it's enough!!!

Mine was mailed in the second week of January. Unless the point system has changed, I reapplied with 17 points (the same as what I had last semester). I was on the Alternate list last semester, but never got a call. I lost all 6 points on the TEAS, with an overall score of 80.6%. I was 1 out of 39 who received letters last semester (20 accepted and 19 alternates). They're accepting 40 students for the program this time around.... maybe I'll be good enough to be accepted this time!

StudentCL... weren't you an alternate last semester as well?

Good Luck!!

I dropped mine off about a week ago with 15 points. I was told that was competitive for the alternate list. I retook my TEAS yesterday, and although my grade went up from a 77% to a 84%, my points only went up 1. I would guess that makes me a little more competitve for the alternate list. :crying2:

I am still taking A&P II, that hurts me.

I applied last time with 16 points and received a rejection letter. I am really hoping I get accepted. It seems like the TEAS scores are lower this time around.

I applied at TCC also, but am feeling more confident about WC because of the points I have. I'm incredibly anxious though.

TEAS scores are WAYYYYY down. Big difference between last semester and this one.

Have you received confirmation from WC or TCC that the TEAS scores are low this semester? I'm starting to freak out because I'm seeing a lot of 83% and higher overall TEAS scores posted, and I have an 80.6% overall. It got me on the Alternate list at WC last semester, and would've gotten me accepted to TCC's program if I had not taken the wrong math placement test. If scores are lower this semester than last semester, then I can stop worrying about it.

I am a bundle of nerves!! I wish we didn't have to wait another 1.5-3 months to know our fate.

There was a different admin taking the apps yesterday because the normal nursing admin was out. The one that was there was on the phone with someone and I heard her saying that the ones she saw that day were pretty low. She said that the last one she took had 4 points from the TEAS. Of course that is only for one day, and not the entire app period but it is promising. I've heard a lot of people talking about the lower TEAS scores, but I have also seen a lot of people doing well on the TEAS, so I just don't know.

The admin said that letters are due out at the beginning of May, but we may get them early again this time.

TCC is my first choice because of the location of the school compared to my home. I do have to say that I would love to go to WC...everyone I have ever talked to over there has been so nice, approachable, and just really friendly. I would be so happy to get accepted, and I think I have a better shot here than I do at TCC.

I'm also incredibly nervous! I can't stand this waiting!!!!

Karen told me grades had dropped and I had competitive numbers with a 77% TEAS and 15 points. So with my second test of an 84% and current 16 points I feel a little bit better.

I wish I'd gained a few more points than ONE with that leap in my grade.

Interesting. Of course it's still wait and see at this point, but that lifts my spirits a bit. Have I mentioned how I loathe the wait?! LOL!

competitive for the ALTERNATE list... don't want to confuse anybody

What was the deadline to have these in for the spring? Did you only have to wait 4 weeks before you were notified???

Deadline was July 30th and I received my Alternate letter on September 15th. So we actually had to wait a month and a half for the letters. I anticipate to see letters this time around somewhere around the end of March or first part of April.
