Hi! Who is applying to Weatherford for the spring 2011 semester?
I took the TEAS yesterday and didn't do as well as I was hoping. I am going to retake it and hopefully then I will have 18 or 19 points. It seems that the point system has changed and is only 23 possible points now, rather than 26.
I really don't know if 18 or 19 will be enough, but I haven't completed Micro so that is going to hurt me. I figure it is worth a try though! You can't win if you don't play! lol.
So who else is applying? How many points does everyone have?
I am in a super dilemma right now! I thought I would automatically go for Tarleton because I believe I will have more job opportunities if I have a bachelors. But, if I go there, it is a little father, clinicals are father and A LOT more money. So, now I am leaning towards Weatherford. I am just afraid I will be an ADN and not be able to get a job, because hospitals might only accept BSN's. AHH! Decisions, decisions.
I have heard that Weatherford does a preceptorship (like an internship I think) where you will work at a hospital our last semester. If they like you, they are very likely to hire you. I spoke with a lady at Mineral Wells hospital and she said that she has been very pleased with WC nurses and that they are very high on her list of schools she hires from.
I felt the same way you did at first, that I would for sure pick TSU and WC would be my backup. But it turn out that way after I started researching the schools and such. If you are not happy with having only an ADN, you can do a bridge program. Since you have all the prereqs that TSU required, you should be able to do one completely online and it takes a year. Many reputible universities, such as Texas Tech and several of the UT's & A&M's offer them are they are completely online.
Good Luck with making your decision!!!
Thank you so much Heather, your info helped me a lot. I am 95% sure that I will be going to Weatherford. :) I am getting excited. Last night I was so worried about choosing; I thought I would get sick. What uniforms does WC wear? Can we get that stuff ahead of time, patches, name tags, etc?
Wc has true red uniforms is all i know. We will find out everything we need at orientation july 13th and have bout a month and half to buy everything before school
Starts.
I was nervous like u about choosing afraid id make the wrong choice but i finally just figured i needed to do it and once i did i felt no regrets. My aunt is an icu nurse at baylor (from tcc) and said that it doesnt really matter what school u go to. So i think either one u decide is best for u wont be the wrong choice
I just called and rescinded my acceptance into WC's program. It was a really really really tough decision for me, as I truly wanted to attend Weatherford, but the logistics of living on the D/FW side of town and trying to continue to work full time while in school, the gas prices, etc. just made the logical choice TCC for me.
Good Luck to each of you!! And Sherri, I hope this opens up a spot for you! :)
