Hi! Who is applying to Weatherford for the spring 2011 semester?
I took the TEAS yesterday and didn't do as well as I was hoping. I am going to retake it and hopefully then I will have 18 or 19 points. It seems that the point system has changed and is only 23 possible points now, rather than 26.
I really don't know if 18 or 19 will be enough, but I haven't completed Micro so that is going to hurt me. I figure it is worth a try though! You can't win if you don't play! lol.
So who else is applying? How many points does everyone have?
Thanks Dreamer and Formack.
And Dreamer I hope I get your spot too, HaHa! I am certain Formack got studentcl's!
The good thing about KL being on vacation, I can RELAX. I'm not fretting over the phone ringing this week.
I got notice of grant last week that cover the costs my scholarship didn't cover, so it's PAID FOR. Now, if they'd just pick up the phone and call me.
I'm also working on my backup plan. If I take nutrition and statistics this fall I can apply to both TCU and TWU's Accelerated BSN programs. I'll graduate the same time frame as with WC's ADN, but have my BSN. I am going for a Master's Degree, so I need my BSN. If I throw in organic chemistry and cell biology I can apply at UNT Health Science Center, in their Physician Assistant program. Another exciting option.
Absolutely!!
I'll start though by telling you the thing I remember most was walking away from that day wanting nothing more than to be moved off of the Alternate List!! Everyone that we met that day, which was most of the Nursing Dept staff, truly wanted nothing more than our success in their Nursing Program. You can tell how much they love what they do, and how much effort they put into making sure you become great nurses.
When you arrive at Orientation, you will be given a bag of goodies and told to pick out a folder (inside the bag were things like pens, index cards, lollipops, a stress ball, a spiral notebook, a ruler w/ Weatherford College on it... and inside the folder are all of the documents they'll be going over in Orientation). You pick a seat anywhere you want (I do suggest getting there a little early if you can).
There is a quick introduction made by the director, and then you are instructed to pull out one of the sheets from the folder. It has a bunch of squares on it with things like "Likes Baseball", "Hates Vegetables", etc. and you have to work your way around the room introducing yourself to people and filling in names on the sheet. It's kind of a little icebreaker of sorts.
The rest of the day you go over EVERYTHING in the folder (the director was the one leading Orientation for most of the day)... Schedules & Clinical sites, Dress Code, required textbook list and other resource material, TSNA, Library stuff, they have a packet of helpful info from past students, the professors that are free to stop by will come in and introduce themselves, same with any students that are available, they have a local scrub shop rep. come in with brochures (must purchase Landau brand, true red colored scrubs), lunch is served halfway through the day (we had pizza), and then they will give a tour of the campus for anyone that is interested. It is going to be a long day with a TON of information thrown at you, so make sure you get a good night's sleep and have breakfast in your tummy. :)
My only suggestions are: take notes, don't be afraid to ask questions, and most importantly have fun!
KL keeps talking about how some people are chosen off the alternate list during orientation. Did you SEE that happen?I think I will be so depressed if I SEE others getting pulled off the alternate list and I have to go home still waiting on my call.
No, there were no changes made to the Alternate List during my Orientation (however, TCC hadn't yet notified their students so there really was no room for movement).
Sherri, I sure hope when KL comes back on Monday she has a spot for you! I bet there will be some more movement. It would be neat for you, Heather and I all to go together. Do you live in W'ford? Yes, I would prob bring your own pizza. That way you know you won't get sick. Or,they might be able to get some for you. I just saw the other day that the Subway in Granbury has gluten free bread. I thought that was pretty neat.

I spoke with Tammy, who is typically the one to fill KL's spot any time she is out. Did her response state how long she would be gone on vacation? I hope you don't have to wait too long to hear something!
