We got into the CLC Nursing program...now what

Published

OK, we got in, but now what? I am a detail orientated person and I want info! :lol2: When can I start picking up things I need? What are those items?

I have really lost it! I went from thinking about getting in to wondering what to do/what to read/what to buy before class starts.

And how big of a backpack do we REALLY need? :uhoh3:

Anybody out there from CLC have any advice? Help me before my family moves out of the house permanently (wait...maybe that would be a good thing:devil:)!

I also don't have much advice, but my guess is once you're back in the swing of things you'll do great! I also have a family and I quit my job to make it "easier" on myself. Looking at these modules I doubt there is any way I could've done both, especially since my kids are basically both babies. Regardless, good luck!!!

Trust me when I say it CAN be done...I work full-time through the day and go to classes at night. I am in my 3rd semester right now...I have no choice but to work. Most of the night class students are doing it while working full-time, but not all...as well as some day students. If you are determined, you figure it out. Yes, it's a HUGE hit on your home life, but my husband and I both know in the end, it will be worth it!!! I'm stressed ALL the time!!! And I don't get nearly enough time with my daughter, but I know I can do it!!! If I could quit, I certainly would...but unfortunately for us, it's not an option. :(

I am starting school this semester and my uniform has the patch on the left breast area as Colleen mentioned. I also second what she said about nude colored undies. I got my pants and man, does it look tacky if you are wearing any other color underwear-including white. Best of luck to all starting tomorrow!

Yes, I wear the nude undies as well...everyone else in my class I can tell wears the white, but nude just makes sense...thanks to Colleen and Diedra for telling me that 2 semesters ago. :D

Just a pointer on the nude undies...I always feared I would forget them, you know I'd end up with the ones that say "Bite Me" on the back or something! What I do is wash my whole uniform together, including undies, and when I take it out of the dryer I hang it all on a hanger. The undies go on too, that way I know I will remember to wear my "lucky" undies. Which reminds me...I need to do buy another pair of lucky undies!!!

Ha, I love that we're talking about nude undies! Who ever decided white pants was a good idea??? I just don't get it!!!!!!!! I'd rather wear any other color than white pants!

Ok, so what's with the "Health Stream" requirement?? This is not something that was required when I when through the first semester and nobody informed me that this was a new requirement so I'm trying to get these courses done by Monday, so that I can start clinical on Wednesday and the website is driving me nuts!! I set up an account and got in earlier and now it's telling me that the User ID is not found in this organization. Do any of you have any helpful hints on how to get around this? Has anyone else ever had this problem? Thanks!! :(

I guess the HealthStream requirement started because hospitals were spending quality clinical time making sure we knew all this stuff. So now they have us take these tests and the hospitals know we are trained. It is a pain, but what can you do?

The only problem I had was it would only let me take one or test at a time, then I had to completely get off the internet and sign back on. I had to repeat this each time!:banghead: So, maybe you could give this a try...

Ok, thank you! I'll work on it. I emailed my instructor and she was cool about it, so she said I could work on it on Monday or Tuesday, if I can't get it to work on my computer. Knock on wood.... Yep, I'm back in CLC's nursing program! :banghead:

Hello all!

Well, the first two weeks of school are done and all I can say is... WOW! YOU GUYS WEREN'T KIDDING! I have never been so busy in my life!!!

Colleen, I know you mentioned during orientation that you have an excel spreadsheet that you use to organize yourself. Would it be too much trouble to ask you to send that my way? I can use all the help I can get!

Hope that the semester thus far is going for all of you!

Thanks,

Lisa
