We got into the CLC Nursing program...now what

Published

OK, we got in, but now what? I am a detail orientated person and I want info! :lol2: When can I start picking up things I need? What are those items?

I have really lost it! I went from thinking about getting in to wondering what to do/what to read/what to buy before class starts.

And how big of a backpack do we REALLY need? :uhoh3:

Anybody out there from CLC have any advice? Help me before my family moves out of the house permanently (wait...maybe that would be a good thing:devil:)!

Lisa, are you in section 3? I can't remember, but I thought you mentioned on here you were. I was so tired the other day (got in very late from vacation the night before), that I meant to pay attention to who was in my section, but it was hard!

Thanks so much Dawn & Lisa. So you connected the dots that your speaker was me, huh? I actually got the call from Janet the day before at about 6:30 pm, so I'm glad it seemed like I knew what I was talking about with short notice! I really am glad it helped, and please don't hesitate to contact me if you need anything!

Dawn, yes I am in section 3. I unfortunately didn't catch everybody who was in our section either. It was hard to hear everyone! Plus I was so overwhelmed with all of the information that was swirling in my head!!!

I agree with Dawn and Auntie. Great presentation, Colleen. You seem so confident and sure of yourself. I am anxiously waiting to begin the semester.

hi from a fourth semester student (starting next tuesday). good luck in 3rd semester. you'll be a totally different nursing student by may...trust me. you learn so much this semester. also, many people who were ahead of us told us the second semester was the toughest. the consensus among my fellow classmates is that third has been the toughest so far. you'll all do great and do everything that you can in clinical...foleys, cleaning wounds, etc...

Hi guys! I'm entering my second semester at CLC, but I have been out of the program for a year and a half, yikes!! I'm just a little nervous. All of my fellow classmates will have done their first semester last fall and everything will be fresh in their minds! I'm also taking microbiology.

I was a night student with a full time job and a family, which made home life very difficult so I gave up school until I was able to quit my job and go back as a day student. I just saw the classmates that I started nursing school with graduate this past December, and they've been very supportive. Looking forward to working with any of you guys who will be entering your 2nd semester this term and I'm hoping for a great semester!!

Please, if anyone has any words of encouragement for a very nervous nursing student, I welcome them! :)

I'm afraid I won't be any comfort! I'm going into my 1st semester. I wish you much, much, MUCH good luck!!!

I also don't have much advice, but my guess is once you're back in the swing of things you'll do great! I also have a family and I quit my job to make it "easier" on myself. Looking at these modules I doubt there is any way I could've done both, especially since my kids are basically both babies. Regardless, good luck!!!

Thanks!! What semester are you in? It was ROUGH working full-time. I pretty much only saw my family on Sundays!

I'm entering the first semester. I'm so glad I quit my job...for many reasons. We had big changes at work right as I went on maternity leave and I went back to visit with the baby and EVERYONE looked miserable! Good timing to have a baby I guess! I just hope I can juggle the school work and family. I can't get anything done except during nap time!

Hey!

I just got my smock from tri-county uniforms and they sewed the patch on the front of the uniform... I thought it was supposed to be on the sleeve??? Has the location of the patch changed? I tried calling the nursing office and left a message.

Thanks everyone!

Lisa

Hey, Lisa

The patch is supposed to be on the front breast area. It has been there for as long as I have been in the program, so do not worry about it. Isnt is lovely?? It is the most unflattering but it could be worse, it used to be worse....white smocks!!
