We got into the CLC Nursing program...now what

Published

OK, we got in, but now what? I am a detail orientated person and I want info! :lol2: When can I start picking up things I need? What are those items?

I have really lost it! I went from thinking about getting in to wondering what to do/what to read/what to buy before class starts.

And how big of a backpack do we REALLY need? :uhoh3:

Anybody out there from CLC have any advice? Help me before my family moves out of the house permanently (wait...maybe that would be a good thing:devil:)!

Congratulations!!!! So did I. My letter came this afternoon. What now? Everything has changed over the last year. I hate not being prepared and I have a million questions...

I just got mine!!

On previous posts I've read that we need a CPR class...I quickly registered for that (BLS Healthcare professional), seeing that there was only one class open in December.

Congrats to all of you!!!!!

Regarding the CPR class, you need to have taken that prior to starting clinical. Which won't happen for a couple of weeks into the semester. So if there's a January CPR class available it should work too. Double check with the nursing office on that, but I'm pretty sure that's the way it is still.

You'll have an orientation to attend in early January, and a lot will be explained then.

CONGRATS again!!!!

you guys im so excited!!!! i cant stop looking at my acceptance letter lol, is that lame?

i think it'd be cool if everyone introduced themselves (name, age, where you live, educational background?/why nursing? =)

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Congrats to you all!! A friend of mine just got her acceptance letter yesterday as well!:yeah:

It's a tough experience and you do have to work really hard, but it does go fast. I'll be graduating in May!!

Congrats!!! My daughter got in last semester and is in the "new" program. If you are looking for stuff to read/do to get a head start my advice would be the following:

*There is lots of assessment the 1st semester. Start reading up on your assessments.

*Start learning some of the more popular drugs. Drugs.com has a lit of the top 100 drugs so that might be a good place to look for the popular ones.

*Look online for dosage calculations practice. There are lots to choose from. You will have a "math" test shortly after you start your semester.

Good luck! Stay organized!

which book for assessment?

Ummm, I'm not sure. She bought it with the "book package" that you'll all need to get. Last semester you couldn't get the books seperately.

My thought was any good assessment book would be good to start reading. Let me get the name of her book though.

I chose nursing because the "human" intrigues me. Whether it be the person, the symptoms, the diagnosis, etc... I just love everything about what a nurse does.
