Many products coming out of china are now being recalled due to unsafe materials to make products and keep the budget at a low cost. Lead is MIXED in the paint for toys and here is what happened when a customer bought a pair of flip flops from wal-mart, these were chemical burns.
Owwww...
Here's a page with a video news report of another person with the same reaction to the shoes:
Lead isn't a chemical, so it technically can't be a "chemical burn." Without taking the side of WalMart, one would have to analyze all of the components of the flip-flop straps and do sensitivity testing on the two people mentioned in the article who have allegedly been affected. The soles of the flip flops are usually made of latex, but the straps are usually made of some type of plastic.
Regardless of whether or not it was from latex (which the straps are rubber instead of plastic), I still think it's something in them that she is allergic to. I know there was one other person who said that they also had that kind of reaction. But if it's something that anyone can get, just think about how many millions of pairs of those flip flops have been sold and there's only these two we've heard had a reaction? If it was something that was causing it to most people, it would've been all over the news. Also, I don't think she should sue Walmart because of an allergy. Anyone can develop an allergy to something at any age even if they've been exposed to it over and over all their life. If someone is allergic to peanuts and doesn't yet know it and goes into Walmart to buy peanuts do you think Walmart will give them a free allergy screening before allowing them to buy them?

Theres definately more than two! If you read through the entire thing, the number is around 10 with more jumping on....:)
That is bizarre! I feel soo bad for everyone's poor feet...
I guess we have the one super WalMart, in the country, where parking is fine. When I go thru the doors, the greeter says hello to me and calls me by my first name, and gets me an electric cart. My medications are always ready and waiting when I come to get them. I can get my quilting supplies, some of my art supplies, my CDs, my books(I love to read) and groceries all at a much more reasonable price then in the other area supermarkets. I don't buy my clothes or shoes there, mostly because they don't carry what I like to wear.

And by the way, I live on a fixed income, which limits my spending
I am not a walmart cheerleader, however, I don't think they hold exclusivity for bad products from China....
Toys R Us just removed whole shelves of toys because of the lead paint, bad beading, unsafe for kids problems....
I think you have to look at where the product is made....not the store that sells it...there are lots of stores, like Neiman Marcus...(needless markup) and Target, and Marshall Fields who sell clothing made in foreign countrys....ie, China....
It's about the bottom line....and not about health and well being of the people....
Holy crow, that's the last time I buy my grandkids any shoes from Wally World!!
Last spring, I bought Eli a pair of Crocs knock-offs for $5 from Wal-Mart. It never crossed my mind that they could be unsafe. The kid loved those shoes, too, because he could take them off and even put them back on again without help. They got lost at a friend's house in Seattle, and for the past month I've been intending to go back and buy him a couple more pairs. Not gonna happen now.........my little guy has the most sensitive skin in the Free World, and it's a miracle he didn't have trouble with that first pair.
Thank you for sharing this, Jessy!

Again, in my experience, employees are very rude indeed. Always harried and avoid even looking at you, in case you dare ask for direction or for assistance in anyway.......lol
There is usually a line to get out of the store too, as you have to wait til the greeter (usually a senior citizen) scans your reciept and okays it.
I don't even go to Sam's Club as it's the same story. Plus, those great big shopping baskets are scary. My poor car has gotten hit a few times. Nope, I don't miss shopping there.......lol
