Walmart flip flops

Published

Many products coming out of china are now being recalled due to unsafe materials to make products and keep the budget at a low cost. Lead is MIXED in the paint for toys and here is what happened when a customer bought a pair of flip flops from wal-mart, these were chemical burns.

i go to wal-mart for groceries and meds [not exclusively but it is close and prices are within range for the area]

never had any problems with the employees or the merchandise, clothes are not of good quality but for general shopping it is convenient mileage wise

however this woman needs to find out exactly what it is that is causing such a terrific reaction, any allergy can cause you a worse reaction the following exposure and those pictures were gross, and the treatment that she got was very poor customer relations..she need to follow this up with their home office, an experienced lawyer and state office

I would bet on it being an allergic reaction.

Oh geez! Thats awful!

I returned a package of dog treats to Walmart that had been recalled. When I went to see if I could find some other type of dog treat that was not made in China, I noticed that the recalled dog treats were still being sold on the shelf. I complained to the manager, and she completely blew me off and acted like I was nuts, so I called back the next day and talked to a different manager. This was about 3 weeks ago when they had the recall notice for the chicken jerky treats. The treats are still on the shelf. :angryfire I'm sure they have sold many more by now.

Also, I saw a news report about a young lady who had a reaction to the flip flops from Walmart. When she told Walmart about the problem, they sent her a letter and told her to contact the Chinese company that makes the flip flops. Even if they aren't at fault for an individual's allergic reaction to a product, it is pathetic that they recommend that a consumer contact the Chinese company that made the product. If a company is going to sale a product then it needs to be responsible for it. They could have found a better response than that. It would make me really angry if I tried to return a product or to complain about it and the manager told me to contact the foreign factory that made it. ugh!!!

I went to replace a glazed ceramic dog dish that I had broke and noticed that all the new dog dishes are made in China. Scared me to think what the glaze is made out of since lead glaze used to be the cheapest & there are no standards for animal dishes (as there now are for humans). I then went to the pet super stores and found the same thing. I think it's time to start boycotting goods from China (I already started) as a way to show our displeasure of corporate greed & disloyalty to the American workforce.

Has anyone noticed the China has prefered trade status and still sends products that are not only inferier but dangerous???? Perhaps we should "regift" the products back to them and take away the status.

Buy American.

American flip-flops? We don't make anything any more. One of the reasons "Papa Joe" Kennedy found himself out of stocks and in cash about 18 months before the 1929 stock market crash is because he found American manufacturing capacity being underutilized to such an extent he wouldn't have any part of it. And that figure is even worse now. T-bills for me! Figuring in inflation, I'm losing money at a steady rate, but I stand zero chance of losing it all in one day.

an interesting bit of history, of which i was not aware. your state ment "we dont make anything any more" is closer to the truth than i care to admit......and when we literally dont, is when we will be totally lost....we will be at the mercy of the producing countries.....part of the prob is indeed, every american worker expecting to get a "living" wage for the most menial of labor, how much do you think those flip-flops would COST, if they were made here? No, i am not advocating slave labor, but if you are going to pay someone 11-12 $ an hour to make flip flops, they arent going to sell for 5$

So maybe the American public has gotten used to buying cheap goods, and should adjust its thinking? I know I make a lot of unnecessary purchases without much thought. I'm not sure if all this cheap stuff is good for us in the long run.

I completely agree.
