Waiting on Ivy Tech acceptance letters thread

Published

I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!

How about introductions and a little info about each person?

I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!

Is anyone taking microbiology online thru Terre Haute? if so did you get an email from the teacher explaining the class this summer. She made it sound pretty hardcore. what do you think if you are taking this class online this summer & received this email?

I am so glad that you mentioned the email from the micro prof in this post...I am bad about checking my Ivy Tech email since none of my other profs use it!! I thought the same thing about it being hardcore when I read the email, but I have to agree with Melissa2012...I think the prof is just trying to warn us (especially those who have not taken many online classes) about the amount of time that we will need to put in. I have taken several online classes, and as long as we keep up with the work and pay attention to the deadlines, we'll be just fine. I guess it beats sitting in a classroom all day over the summer. Good luck! :)

Online classes can be difficult, but as long as you stay organized, you'll be ahead of the game. Last summer when I took 2 online classes in such a short time frame, I wrote down every single assignment for each week on a whiteboard right next to my computer so I'd be sure not to miss anything. One of my classes we had to post to the discussion board four times per week, all on separate days, so it was instrumental in making sure I got that accomplished!

Is the online micro 3 credits or 4? Depending on where I eventually get my BSN I might have to retake Micro since I know IU requires 4 credits of Micro and I took the 3 credit option. If I have to retake it oh well, I loved that class so I'd be okay with that.

Ball State's RN to BSN program says they require 3 cr of micro and only 6 of a&p.

csab - Oh that's nice to know! I'll most likely be moving out of state after graduation, and I have no idea where we'd go, so at least with A&P I figured I'd cover my a** and make sure I have 10 credits of it just in case :)

Good luck wrapping up spring classes everyone.

I am taking the onine micro class in TH as well this summer. Any idea when the syllabus will be available? I thought it was the first day of the summer classes but I didn't know if this teacher sends anything else out early like the email she sent eveyone signed up for her online class.

I really wanted to wait to apply for the January admission but when I went to the nursing orientation back in October 2008 for Evansville Ivy Tech, we were told that there were 84 applicants for the 10 available RN slots (apparently there was another 10 LPN slots as well) for the Jan 2009 admission. We were told 83 out of the 84 had straight A's with the lowest score getting in was a 202 and the highest being 215. The presenter also stated that they anticipated having 80 total seats available for fall 2009 admission with 60-70 being for RN slots. Does any one know how the other campuses scores are running for January admissions? I went ahead and applied for the fall admission because I thought I would have a better chance. I am still nervous.:icon_roll

GeorgiaK - Compared to some campuses, only 84 applicants is pretty good! Bloomington's spring start RN program also only takes 10 people and for this spring, the lowest was 4 As and a 91 on the TEAS.

I hope you get accepted to whichever semester you prefer :)

I applied to get in the fall at Evansville. My score is a 206. I heard only 150 applied to get in this fall. I was expecting 300 or 400. If you look at the nursing classes @ Evansville for the fall they have 60 slots available in the nursing 100, 101, ect. classes. What score did you apply with?

I am still taking my last two pre-req classes. I think I will end up with a 212 if I get an A in my APHY 102. Otherwise it will be a 202.

Either way I think your good. You did well on the teas that's great!!
