Waiting on Ivy Tech acceptance letters thread

Published

I thought it might be nice to have a place for us to vent our frustrations with waiting until May 30th or so when letters start going out. I know I'm going nuts already!

How about introductions and a little info about each person?

I'm applying to both Bloomington and Indy-Lawrence for the Fall 2009 ASN programs. I turned in my apps this week with 4 As on the pre-reqs and a 90.0 on the TEAS. My eventual goal is at least getting a BSN, and if I feel like doing homework long enough, an MSN of some sort. I work full time now, but will hopefully only work part time if I get accepted. I'm so antsy to start preparing and finally feel like all of this is real!

GeorgiaK, you went to the same orientation session as I did. I recently heard from a classmate that the 80 seats they anticipated being open is now 30 seats. I wonder how true that is. I don't think you have anything to worry about though, either way, you've got a great score.

All4him7, are you taking micro on campus this semester?

Yeah, I'm taking online micro & chem. I heard this morning from a girl in my A&P class that she spoke to her advisor last Thurs and the advisor said 35 RN & 15 LPN. That stinks.

Your taking the online micro and chem right now? How is that going? I a little nervous about the micro because a got a lengthy email already from the instructor bascially informing the class it would not be an automatic easy class...there would still be a lot of work (I expected as much). Who is your teacher?

No, I'm taking it this summer, I got the same e-mail. my friend took it online last summer she said it's not near as bad as the e-mail makes it sound. I hope she's right.

Maybe we should start a thread for those of us taking summer classes or something...I keep getting confused about who's on which campus and who's in which course...So many of us are taking Micro and Chem that I just don't even know who's where anymore! Can you tell I'm easily confused sometimes :)

BTW I should probably let everyone know, this is Melissa2012. I changed my user name to mhnice. :)

Does anyone know if we are supposed to submit a transcript (official or unofficial) with second semester grades if we were taking a prereq (ANP 102)? I thought somebody asked this in an earlier post....but skimming through, I couldn't find it. In Indy Angie K. told me she would look up the grades, but I wasn't sure about other campuses (specifically Anderson).

I hope all your finals went well! I am glad they are done....I just hope 4 A's and an 88 on the Teas is good enough for Indy or Anderson. May is going to be a long month! My poor kids...they just want their "fun" mom back, not the stress case I have become! (I don't want to think about what I will be like if I get into the program...they think I'm bad now! :)

I thought I remember being told (or I read it in the info packet)in the orientation that if the last prereqs were being taken at Ivy Tech, then they (the nursing program staff) would obtain it. If the classes were being taken elsewhere, then it was up to the student to get the transcript forwarded. Check your packet. Good Luck

Thank you GeorgiaK! I think it is better to be safe than sorry! My biggest fear is that I will (or have) forgotten something trivial (you know, like my name on the application) and I won't get in! UGH!

I don't know if they'll look up the grades or not. I'd probably submit a new transcript just in case. That way, if it's not necessary, they'll just pitch it, and if it is necessary, you've got your bases covered!

At Ivy Evansville, I am 100% sure they will get a copy of the spring grades from the registrar themselves. It may very campus to campus.

I went to the January info session at Indy and the chair (same person you mentioned) said that we were responsible for turning in fofficial transcripts with final spring grades included. There are so many discrepancies that whether it is required or not I will feel

better when I submit mine again.

So I am not the only one who has noticed that the information you get (even from the same person) varies daily? I thought it was just me... :) Like you said, better safe than sorry...How many more days of this stress?????????
